Damn It! You did not follow my directions and now you are likely going to regret it. You where supposed to ask her what she wanted FIRST! You had better get her something good for V-day or your ship is going to sink pal and she'll never agree to spending mod money again. I hope it works out for you man, good luck.

well i do make the money, i just let her pay the bills so i told her i need 300 bucks for some heavy duty "STEP" bars. she got mad at me for getting rid of the ones that came on the truck.

haha love it. i told Mandy that they are on a great deal and if i get them now I can put them on and have the truck safe from side collisions with other cars. she bought it and then i bought the sliders.

always point out that, "i am making the truck safer for you and the kids. Like seatbelts."

haha, but being a novice i dont know what is the best. I have heard that consistancy is in TIG, then Wire, Stick in that order. plus doesnt TIG burn though better?

randy, rob- you guys seen the 4x4 mag article about the 2 battery weld using jumper cable and rod?

TIG isn't usually worth the trouble unless you're doing exotic metal or need it to look purdy.

got cha, all the shows show it as teh best and strongest... good to know where the bs is.

mud_duck go to an exhaust shop and have them weld them on, cheap and they dont mind it. I did that with my 86 runner. worked well.

TIG is stronger and the heat is more controllable, so it can minimize distortion. The welds are also softer, so it is great for body work where you have to grind it down. Unless you have a TIG unit, it's kinda overkill for sliders. Worth it for a roll cage for added insurance, but a MIG works fine there too.

This stick is best for thicker metals in easier to reach places hence the reason its used for professional pipe fitting in oilfields and such. Mig is good for thinner stuff in hard to track areas or stuff where you want a cleaner looking weld

A proper stick weld is SUPER fawking strong! There is a reason they use it on most large construction projects.
