It needs a trail test before I will trust it again! I am gonna pick the right incline with nothing behind me and test it out in a controlled manner before I do any real wheeling.

I just read some real good right ups about 1st gen 4runner bed bob's & cutting the top to match on Pirate. Just throwing that out there.

I say cut the top first since where you cut it will be totally dependent on the location of the glass. Then measure the finished product and bob accordingly. I'm sure that's what everyone else did too.

Just pull the top and don't worry about where you cut it. :)

Otherwise, finish your rear suspension and then cut just past the rear shackle and then make the top match.

seems kinda backwards to me. If you look at the top bobs don't care about glass length (some do.. most dont).. and you can get and install replacement glass a lot easier than sheetmetal.

I definatly need to finish the rear suspension before I do any cutting, my plan was 63" chevy springs but they are not very bob freindly, might look into other options there.

As far as the top goes, having one fit & a functional tailgate with glass would be my goal, but I would cut the body first & the top second. I'm not too worried about screwing up the top.....I just so happen to know where I can get another one on the cheap if I fuck mine up, don't put it on craigslist just yet Sean :D

I found something pretty cool. The old owner of Downey has a bunch of stuff left over when he closed the business and is selling stuff off out of an E-bay store. I have been exchanging e-mails with him looking for left over parts at good prices & getting general ideas from him. Seems like a real knowledge able guy. Anyways he has a set of leaf springs 2" over stock for sale & wants $200 for them, seems like a good deal to me, just kinda shy about pulling the trigger right now, I am supposed to be saving for my cruise in 4 weeks.

Anyways if anyone is interested his e-bay store is "Tojo man", looks like he has some good deals going. Limited supply of course.

Most of you have seen this already but anyways.......I had some family in town & halloween stuff with the kids this weekend, but did manage to find a little time to work on the 4runner. I set out to try to straiten the bed floor, I was dented pretty bad and low on the driver side, making my new rear quarter panel not quite fit right at the back. This metal is alot thicker & stronger than the rest of the sheet metal, beating on it with a sledge got me no where.

My plan was to find a big tree and use a come-along. Not so many big trees in my yard, so I put it on the trailer & took it out to my dads place. We started by welding some angle iron tabs in the places we wanted to pull. 3 tabs total.

In this picture you can see where the new quarter is supposed to be fitting against the bed floor.

Used a chain to shackle a heavy chain to the tabs

Trying to think about how we could pull it up and out at the same time, my dad had a big idea.

We chained the front of the 4runner to a tree & hooked another chain to the tabs and pulled with the hyrdaulics of the tractor.

The results where great!
