I'll raise hell until it is aligned to my liking.

NTB won't say anything b/c I'm not taking it to them. Gonna use a small mom & pop type place where they align it the old fashion way.

Good call on the mom and pop places that do old school alignments, the major chains can't get mine aligned for shit but one trip to Allens tire/alignment and it was done right the first time and for less money. The major chains are dead set on using their machines/computers to get it to "stock specs" which simply dosn't work with lifted vehicles. Which sucks because i've got the firestone lifetime alignment and they claim they can't get it aligned to spec with the lift but they do get close and I suppose I'm happy with that most of the time.

Couldn't agree more, I think the most sophisticated tools the old places use is a tape measure & a string, that & I happen to know that the dude at NTB is a fucktard because I already took the creampuff in for an alignment & he told me that I needed a new idler arm, pitman arm, tie rod ends, ball joint & SHOCKS before he could align it properly. He also said that the adjuster cams where too tight & he couldn't get them loose. Basically he didn't know WTF was wrong so he told me to replace everything. I'll admit that the TRE's have seen better days but shocks? You have got to be kidding me.

No way dude, the only thing you should be swapping in is a small block diesel. Then boost the hell out of it.

that is what i want to do but have not found a good option. mercedes has an older diesel that woould be cool. the 3.4 is the best bet but a 2.7 or a built 22re would be my favorite choice.

i like the way you say shit man.

you are right if the computer will not spec it it cant be done. mom and pops are doing it with a plum gauge and a string.

Got my Diff gaurd welded on this weekend. I sure do need some more practic welding. I laid 3 beads down & the first 2 look pretty rough & the last one was at least half decent. Even if it is not pretty the welds are strong & this thing is not going to be coming off. I ground down the ugly welds & painted it all to hide them.

Looks Good Rob! Guess there is no "heat" danger welding straight on the Diff?

Thanks guys, I have to say that it pretty decent. Also thanks for not making fun of my welds. I am going to keep practicing, hopefully they will get better. I wish I would have had some scraps laying around that I could have practiced on first.

I didn't concentrate the heat when I did it, welded an inch at a time then moved to another spot & kept cooling it off with a wet rag. Didn't have any problems.

Damn this intermittent starting problem is driving me crazy. Yesterday morning I went out side to straiten up the garage before Sam & Todd showed up to weld Sam's sliders. Needed to move the 4runner, turn the key & it started right up. Moved it roughly 50 feet & turned it off. 8 hours later we where done with the sliders & I was going to weld my diff guard on, turned the key & nothing but a click. Walk away for 30 minutes & go back to try & find the problem, turn the key & starts right up. Finish welding the guard on & ready to move it back to it's parking spot & nothing but a click. Couldn't get it started so I said fuck it & went to bed. Today after work & was going to try & track down the problem, hit the key & it started right up. WTF is going on here? Getting a little pissed, but a wise little birdie told me to replace the starter contacts so I ordered some today & they should be here Wednesday. Fingers crossed.

Solenoid? Had a similar problem with the chevy turned out to be a faulty solenoid, replaced it and the interment start hasn't come back.

I am 95% that the solenoid is working, I can hear it click every time & I know that power is getting to the starter when you hit the key. I really hope it is the starter, it seams to be an easy fix & the parts are cheap enough. The worst part is going to be R&R'ing the damn thing. Also thinking it could be neutral safety switch. Whatever it is, It's real annoying. I has made me mad one to many times.

Well if the bitch won't start it is hard to go wheeling. The "click" has left me on the trail more than once, just trying to be sure it doesn't happen again.

I'm sure I will get to the bottom of the problem, my new starter contacts should be here today. I am making progress getting the Heim's on, hope to have it done for this weekends BVORR trip.

I snagged Todd's 5100's today. He went to some 5125's & made me a good deal on them. They are a direct dolt on & roughly 3-1/2 to 4" longer than stock for my 4runner. They will definatly cure my rear shock travel problems. I will get these on tonight.
