yeah it was rush hour traffic, 2 lanes both directions, I was going Northbound, and was trying to make a left hand turn. The center lane was stopped. I pulled into the intersection to look around the Dodge that was blocking my view, and just as I stuck my front end out to look around the Dodge, the VW came cruising through the curb lane (Way too fast in my opinion) and clipped the driver side of my brush bar, and then proceeded to slam into the light post without hitting her brakes at all..

Shitty deal for me cause insurance says left hand turns are always at fault.... If she would have hit her brakes the worst damage would be the fender and the front of my truck. Now as it stands its her whole car...

The kicker is that if I didn't have the brush guard on my truck then their probably wouldn't have been an accident.

Looks like bumper cover, grill, headlight, fender, block heater cord, and some of the bracing holding the bumper cover and grill.

Fingers crossed that the crumple zone isn't damaged. Anyone know at what speed a vehicle needs to be travelling to set off the airbags?

Frack me..
I hit a deer doing 70.. my airbags didn't blow either.. Granted it was on the front corner like yours, not in the middle. Get a real bumper.. problem solved. :D

I'd like to see you hit one now that you have that ARB. Poor deer.

So I spent some time with a BFH on Sunday and honestly it looks much better. The only places that are showing damage right now are the bumper cover and the driver side headlight. I am just waiting to hear back from insurance regarding what they are going to do for me, and if I can get the cash it will be spent on an aftermarket bumper and new headlight.

I was curious regarding the airbags, cause if something does go nutty ie lawsuits I want to know what speed a vehicle needs to be travelling for them to deploy, because she is claiming 50 km/h and if that is not the case then hopefully their is some backing for me.

I was actually surprised how flimsy the bracing is holding on the bumper cover, front fender and even the fender. I bent most of it by hand, and used the BFH on the one front brace.

The only downfall is that I notice my front anchor point is bent up, and the welds/metal plate is busted......

Everything on these trucks is built with the density of a freaking beer can I'm supprised it didn't wad up more sheet metal and the front of the frame.

WOW, I haven't updated this in a while....

So a few things have happened lately, I got a new bumper (don't flame me for it, got a smoking deal on an All-Pro) then proceeded to go out to Whipsaw and Hydro-lock the engine within 42 kms......

Got the truck back to Calgary (only 900 kms away) and then proceed to find myself a wreck (from one of my buddies who crashed his 06 TRD Sport) and then started the tear down of both trucks, did the swap and now back on the road.

So I guess a few pics from the last little while!

I now have ALOT of parts from an 06 double cab sitting at my folks place, once I get a list together I will put it up, the parts need to go to good homes and not the wrecker.

That reminds me: If your shifter seat bushing is in OK shape, I'll take it off your hands...

LOL,

Glad you were able to find that front end clip. If you're parting it out, I might be interested in the front seats

There is a middle school down the road from the house and milk crates blow out in the road all the time. I can get you a set of those seats Drew. lol

Nice work on the swap.. I am guessing a snorkel is in your future?

I don't think the airbag deployment has much to do with speed as it does change in inertia. The ratio of a whitetail vs your truck, I'd say you didn't slow down too much - not like hitting an elk or a horse.

And the nice thing with that AP bumper is that you can replace just the side piece (along with the hood, the radiator mount, headlights, fender and any other part that thing pushes into) next time you hit a deer!!! :D lol

Yep, next on my list of mods, along with a leveling kit to kill the Taco lean.

Also was able to kill 2 birds with one stone, and I did new stainless steel lines when I did a brake flush. The truck has all new Toyota fluids in it now, not cheap but cheaper insurance after being in deep water
