So I hugged a turn too tight on the Road to Nowhere and dented my slider. Pretty impressive considering the rock chunk it broke off.

It was the last hard turn away and down coming from the inside of the rim to the outside that got me. I looked out and down to check the road while I had the wheel cut hard passenger. Rolled forward and onto/into a rock ledge that dropped the whole 4Runner when it gave way. I slammed my head into the roof of the rig and have a perfect impression of the nose piece of my Oakleys in the headliner. Ironically that is probably one of the widest corners on the whole trail and I tried cutting 1/3 of it out.

Note to self - replace these two bolts with low profile bolt heads. When the rear tire is fully stuffed the tire rubs really really close to the bolt heads. Thankfully I only fully stuffed on low speed stuff this trip but do not want to stuff it at high speed and tear up a tire with a bolt head. This is probably something any 3rd gen 4Runner owner should do.

Yeah my CBI sliders have some dents on the bottom that look just like that.

Going to try to replace the bolts with some button heads. The mud flaps do not bother me right now since I trimmed them up a little.

So I am in the club now? Nice.

I would never buy Aluminum sliders or rear bumper...

Sliders - hell no. Rear bumper - steel bumper, aluminum swing out would be sweet.

So after spending a day driving around on the Rokmen rear lower links I am happy with the new parts; even my sammich maker mentioned that the rig feels stable turns at speed (although that probably has a lot to do with new bushings too). The overall install was extremely simple and took me a little less than one hour with hand tools. The parts look good though - the powder coat is clean and the welds are very nice. The one Rokmen link weighs as much as both stock links so that says something about the size and hopefully strength of the new parts. As for the longer length to correct the pinion angle - it does appear to have brought the 3rd member back down a little back to where it should be. (comparing it to the angle on a non-lifted 3rd gen)

Next up will be replacing the rear upper links. I am going to stay with stock parts on these.
