Well you can rent Sat phones too. My stepdad used to rent them when he would go on 2 week fishing trips in the middle of nowhere.

That could be a good option for a group going into the back country. Everyone kicks in a little for the rental cost and the group has a life line if needed.

Right. Zizzle commented that we could do another trip a year for the cost of that. I must have her bamboozled since she believes we could survive nearly anything! But then again, she'd be willing to do a wing suit BASE jump! lol

It wasn't too bad. I think it was $250 a month that included 20 mins of talk time. You would pay a lot for every minute after that but it'd be worth it

You do have life insurance on her; right? Megan is quickly going up in value.

None on her and I canceled mine since the money would first go to a loan to which I get no benefit.

I am going to drop the front sway bar this week or weekend to see how the 4R handles with the ToyTec lift and no sway bar. I do not drive it like a race car so we will see if it is not too bad. Preferably it is fine without the sway bar as I would like the extra front suspension travel at Jambo. I shopped around for quick disconnects and those are completely out of the budget right now.

I pulled my sway bar 7 years ago.. haven't missed it. It does corner on its door handles though. Lots of lean. :)

Think i will try to secure it up and out of the way for now until I decide I am okay without it. Then I will just remove the whole thing.

Looking for opinions/advice - transmission is heating up easy and I keep getting error lights about shift solenoid 3. This error was already handled by the previous owner when he had the shift solenoid replaced at a dealership. This leaves me looking at the possibility of having slipping plates and according to the service manual the torque converter going bad.

So my question is if maybe putting some Lucas additive in the transmission will help firm up the loose shifting for a while to give me time to get the resources to upgrade/rebuild the transmission properly. Thoughts?

The additive couldn't hurt if your just gonna rebuild it later, are there even any upgrades for the a340?

Kind of what I was thinking. As for upgrades - better torque convertor for the supercharger and kevlar friction pads for the increased heat/ more performance.

torque convertor link

bullet proof rebuild kit

This setup has been shown to work great with the supercharged motors.

I picked up the Lucas Transmission Stop Slip fluid this morning for $9. I had the extra ATF so I did drained the pan and refilled it. I added the Lucas first, then two quarts of ATF. The initial test drive was about 20 miles of mixed city and country road driving. So far I will have to say I am impressed with the difference. I did not "feel" a real difference but the temps stayed at 180 or less the entire time. Previously it would shoot over 200 degrees when under hard acceleration or coasting to a red light from any speed. This time the trans slowed the 4Runner down like it should without spiking the temp so fast I could watch the gauge move like the RPM gauge.

This is just the first few miles so I will keep an eye on how well it continues to work over the next few weeks. So far I am impressed though.

Ram mount was installed on top bolt hole today. I am already debating installing a ball on the lower bolt hole as well.

Maybe consider adding a trans cooler. I am going to on mine with sc i want my trans to last. The upgraded tc is the way to go. I recommend them all the time for tranny jobs. Toyota stock are junk ! Wait unofficially

Trans cooler was one of my first upgrades since the previously installed cooler was backwards. Today I also replaced the upstream O2 sensor.

Think I am going to order the Total Chaos spindle gussets next for install when I have time. I am just trying to find a source at the moment.
