Like the title says - '87 4Runner with two snapped off lug nut studs. My question is do I have to diassemble the free wheeling hub when removing it from the axle hub to replace the stud?

I figured you could smack them out and replace them.. I haven't ever seen the lugs on an 87...:o

According to Chiltons - I can. After I remove the pull the brake caliper, remove the free wheel assembly, remove the outer bearing, pull off the brake rotor, and then remove teh lug holder from the brake rotor. Really it isn't too far from my old '92 F-150; but it really is different overall.

At least hit it with a hammer to see if it will come out before you go to all that trouble

If it won't come out easily it will have to come out hard. IT has no choice in this fight. Hell or high water it is coming out. I am going wheeling Sunday at Bridgeport.

I know it sounds like alot of work but it's not, a 1 hour job at most. Might as well clean and repack those wheel bearings while you are in there.

Got it all off... wow. wtf. I'm taking the rotor in to a friend to get the studs replaced because I can't get them out. Sometimes you have to know when to call in reinforcements. Especially before you break anything else....
