Downside is they have a hard time getting all the fuel out of the can. But man they are easy and fast.
Still better than trying to not spray gas all over the side of the 4Runner.
Seems like you did but we might have been drinking. I have also been in a whirlwind these last few weeks getting work caught up and ready for this trip.
Looks like we are going to keep it simple today and run the Llano Loop, walk a trail south of it, and drive out to the La Mota 2 camp area. Then back to the camp site for food, relaxing, and packing. I want to make a break for it at day light.
You can get a knockoff brand of these at Home Depot or Lowe's in the HVAC aisle for $10 now.

If you havent done it already, the Javalin trail that heads towards Guale 1 from near Javelin campsite is a pretty good trail.
Ended up spending a large part of the day hiking and then drove up to La Mota 2 camp. Great views and the trail is not bad to drive. Overall the Madrid Falls Trail is the only trail I had to use 4Lo on to get up some of the trail areas. I really want to come back with a group and run the Trail to Nowhere and the NorthWest corner. The staff at the Ranger Station were talking about an older couple that are full-expo that went up there and loved it. It would be a great excuse for an off road trailer - right?
They will be here on Wednesday. No more getting as much gas on my sleeves as in the gas tank for me. It made starting the fire that night a nervous event.

I have 2 of these and no clue where I put them... I need to get more organized.
I would love 36 gallons; but even the 21 gallon tank on the Tacoma would be great compared to the 18.5 on the 3rd gen 4R. I keep looking for a larger tank for my 4R but it seems nobody has made a solution to be a direct replacement for the OEM tank.
Sounds like you had a great Christmas trip at those different parks. You should do a photo thread for those parks; Megan and I were already talking about the Davis Mtns SP on the way home from Big Bend Ranch.

I saw somewhere; someone used S10 tank on a 4Runner, but it was like a 28 or 29gal tank iir
I will have to check that out; if it works it would be awesome to have that kind of range. As for the trip I have most of the pics sorted and ready for posting after I get the map laid out and ready to go with them.

As for gas, terrain and speed is all mixed, I calculated 1 gallon per hour, or 16.3mpg combined when on trails.
Not a big fan of the Ferd 20in wheels, not much tire to absorb the bumps, I ran 27psi on trails(norm 35), aired up before I left and now that I'm home, I noticed I need to add more air to the tires being at lower elevation, off by 3-4psi.

Jealous of all you guys and your Holiday excursions. Parents came into town so I went exactly nowhere. They did watch the little one tonight so the wife and I could have date-night. And here I am back at home by 9:15. I'm getting old and boring. Actually it's more like I don't want to go to a hipster bar in Austin and drink $7 beers. So we went out to eat at a fancy shamcy place, walked around and did some window shopping... Oh I did stop by the Tesla dealer and put hands on a new P85D. I want one. Don't care for the $132k sticker though. Now home. Drinking a beer watching Minions with the little one. Life's good.
