Camping Gear Thread

I hate that one person can reserve so many sites in such a wide area at the same time. It happens here too.

We don't have that issue thank goodness. One site per account is allowed per day or at least that's the way it "was" set up. Ill have to troll the new system when I can find some time.

Good news is I might get some snow showers Friday camping. I could care less about temps ~ so long as they keep above -10 I should be fine w/my gear. This is a solo trip so I don't have to worry about any one being unprepared for the temps as if it was a group weekend or listening to any complaints. Should be nice to catch up on some piece, quiet and sleep.

We only book 3 additional sites to the left and 3 additional sites to right, to help keep down all the riftraft from Austin, DFW and Houston from camping next to us. :D

Ive got all my local spots on lock. I'm so picky it makes it easy. Within a state forest that's half the size of Yellowstone I only camp at 4 locations. My criteria: Must be waterfront (river or lake), must not have neighbors on each side, and must not be off a busy fire road. This weekend I'm breaking rule two but I'm doubtful Ill have any neighbors. Best thing about this weekends camp spot is I have access to heated bathrooms/showers within a 10 minute walk. I'm not a fan of shit pits when it's sub zero and your ass freezes to the seat lol

No neighbors lol

Started out perfect with a few hr snow squall that dropped a real quick 4" and started right before I got to camp

That's Mr Asshole to you
If you ever need to walk on ice or compressed snow Ive been using a set of these for 5+ years with zero failures. I throw my set into my car in fall and use them multiple times per year. When everyone else is slipping around I can run and cut on the ice. On sale now for something like 30% off.... https://www.amazon.com/Yaktrax-Traction-Cleats-Walking-Jogging/dp/B01M1LU1HJ

While we don't see as much of that crap here in Texas what we do see is usually ice. Nice cheap solution that none of us will order and wish we had when we need it.

I’ll borrow Blake’s golf shoes if I need something like that.

I almost ordered a second set so I can share and don't feel bad when everyone else is falling down....then I remembered how much fun it is watching people do the splits :devil-flip:

Picked it up used from a Hollywood mogul, interior needs redone, not a fan of the mirrored ceilings and hidden cameras in the bathrooms. Seems the guy needs to hire a legal team though. :)

Got a lakeside cabin Thursday - Sunday this week. Should of been "off" from work at the same time, but now working every day but Sunday. Luckily the cabin is within an hr of my house because I can't cancel it for a refund. Now Ill just stay at camp and drive the extra hr to work and back. Will be nice having a long weekend of no TV or neihbors. Cabins are dry with power only, but there is a heated bathroom with showers a mile away.

Anyone use roll-and-seal bags for packing for trips/ camping? I am looking for something to help save space, provide water proofing, and be reusable. Since I have two people on the trips clothing takes up a good bit of space and we are trying to manage this better. We are looking to setup a hard case tote with a few sub compartments for her clothes, my clothes, and then shower/ morning stuff. So - anyone done something like this?

same here... packed a set of new clothes for every day + emergency gear should I fall in the water. Ended up coming home wearing the same clothes I was wearing when I left except for undies and socks. Those get changed daily.
