$400 270° awning. I'm curious if it can be set up without the poles. I would use the hell outta this if I didn't have to put the poles down everytime.
Wraptor 2500 - Overland Pros

This is the only criticism I could find. I didn't see any set-up videos on this awning.
I have a friend with the 270 degree Overland Pros awning. it's a pretty nice awning, a bit smaller footprint than my Oztent Foxwing and the canvas seemed to be a bit thinner. That said, my friend did complain about how much of a relative pain it was to set up the awning compared to the competitor products, and I watched him set it up once and it definitely seemed considerably more fiddly to assemble (pulling, stretching, fighting the fit of the canvas) compared to my Foxwing. Since it costs about HALF of what an Oztent or Darche awning does, I'd say the slightly more cumbersome assembly is worth it for those on a budget.Once assembled, the awning performed great from what I could tell.

So as soon as you can answer that question about needing the poles I would greatly appreciate it. That would be an awesome addition to almost any rig; but my birthday is coming up and that would be a great present to myself.

Just picked up a new fly rod. This thing has an amazing amount of flex to it.

I measured my 3rd gen 4Runner and it looks like the 2500 is a bit too long for my rig. So I would end up with the 2000 for $50 less (and a lot less s/h). As for other info; did you find this?

My Sammich Maker is on board with this idea. After s/h I could get the Wraptor 2000 for right under $400. First problem I have right now is my roof rack would need be become a full length rack to properly support it. hmmm

Our wraptor 2000 is smaller and doesn't incur the oversize charge so shipping on it is much cheaper. its excellent in rain, wind, and even snow. you can also hang towels, wet clothes, and all sorts of other gear on it as you can see I did at the lake in the picture. what I tell folks is if you want the awning that is fastest to deploy we won't win that contest. it takes me a few minutes, not one minute. but once you have it setup, its features are hard to beat at the price point, especially if you want walls. the rigid poles all the way around make it much tighter, quieter, and stronger in inclement weather. We wheel our rigs, and i've banged mine up against several trees. its tough.

I was looking at the 2000 as well.. it would fit the trailer much better. It't only $25 more than the CVT Summit Series awning I was looking at... and covers a lore more sq footage.

I haven't contacted them yet. I'll send em an email right now.

I hate to say this because it’ll make me sound like a lazy ass, but if I have to put the poles down every time I take it out then that’s a deal breaker for me. I want the rapid deployment as well as not worrying about dogs, kids or myself running into the tent poles. Especially after a hard night of drinking lol I also want something I can throw open, make lunch and slam shut real quick. I now know from experience that after a couple of days of hard wheeling, hiking, being on the road, etc… that I have little tolerance/energy to keep setting up tent poles. One of the reasons I never use my RTT awning.

EDIT: @tx_shooter just sent them an email asking about the legs setup on it. I'll update you once I hear something back from them. I will be going with the Wraptor 2000 as well if it can support itself.

Wonder what their group buy price break is.....

This is the response I got back from them.
The support poles are required to deploy the awning. I haven't made a video yet. its on our list of things to do. It takes me about 4 minutes to put it up.

As for speed, your more expensive freestanding awnings go up faster. This isn't meant to compete with them on speed. Its more rigid, handles wind better, can have walls, can be used in heavy rain, you can lay things on top of it, and of course its much less expensive. Hopefully this makes sense.

Four minutes is not a horrible setup time. Generally anytime I would set it up I would in that place for 30-45 mins at a minimum. (Thinking lunch break in the Ozarks last trip.) Mind emailing back and see if they do group discounts?

I'm not interested in one at this time (just bought some gun stuff instead :) ). You can contact em through their website easily.

Man is shipping on this thing really $200? On my phone and put the 2000 in the cart to see shipping and it only has the shipping option for a RTT at $200. Which can’t be the same cost.

If that's true I will pass. I have a link saved somewhere for a place in Austin that had good deals on awnings and RTT.

I need to contact these folks.

I just sent them an email asking about local pickup vs. delivery.

Between the FoxWing and the Wraptor 2000 they have very similar specs. Wraptor has a much higher gsm count (2x) transit cover than the FoxWing. Optional walls on the Wraptor are nice as well... not sure how often I would use them or want to store them for the off chance I did.

Wraptor 2000

  • 280gsm poly cotton rip stop waterproof canvas construction
  • Includes rigid support poles and guy lines
  • Includes rigid outer frame poles for enhanced rigidity in rain and wind
  • 280gsm poly cotton rip stop canvas
  • Optional 200 Denier walls
  • 1200gsm PVC transit cover with YKK zipper

FoxWing
  • Fabric 280g ripstop poly/cotton - UV, water, and mold resistant
  • Cover Black, heavy-duty, laminated, 600 GSM PVC cover
  • Structure 1" aluminum extrusion frame, 1" extension rods, cast aluminum pivot joints
  • Mounting Included 'L' brackets and necessary hardware for universal mounting
  • Size 6.5' radius with 270° pivot, up to 7' tall
  • Weight 30 lbs
