Kiss My IFS
As many of you know I picked up a decent condition 87 runner over a year or so to replace my beloved 86 but have been seriously slackin on putting it together. I have gotten much grief for this and it's finally time to get the ball rolling.
The scope for this project is to get the good shit off my 86 and install them on the 87:
I am using the motor I rebuilt out of the 86 and the 5 speed trans & T-case already in the 87. 87's motor has been pulled and sold, motor in the 86 is prepped to come out but still in place.
The front 5.29 diff needs to come out of the 86 and go into the 87, this will be easy once the motor is out. Rear 3rd is already pulled out of the 86, just needs the be installed into the 87.
2" body / derive train lift needs to come off the 86 and go on the 87. This will be a bit of work but if we can just get the body lift pulled off of the 86, drop the gas tank out of the 87 and get the body lift and new body mount bushings installed then we can go ahead with getting the motor and trans in. I will deal with the rest later.
We can push the 87 into my garage to have a nice place to work but the 86 is on blocks on the side of my house and can't be moved into the shade. I have 1 EZ-Up that we can use, but if anybody has another it might be a good idea to bring it along. As far as tools go I have just about everything but it never hurts to have duplicates, especially if we are working in groups. If anybody has a GOOD 1/2" impact, mine is getting pretty weak. A few extra creepers might be nice for rolling around under the trucks.
Parts: I have just about everything I need, new clutch & flywheel are on the way and I am ordering flywheel bolts today, hopefully they will be here in time. I will also be having a fire sale, I have a SHIT.....TON of 4runner and pick up parts and if there is anything I have and you need then most things will be free-fifty. There are only a few things that I cannot give away but they will be cheap cheap.
I will be putting a brisket and some ribs on my smoker Saturday morning, I don't like to brag but I make a pretty fucking decent brisket. Wife will be on point with some sides. Beer is an obvious given, I'm not much of a craft brew kind of guy so if you have particular taste, we have a Spec's a few miles away. I have several large coolers if you want to bring your own.
The schedule is pretty much open for this meet. I will be home on Friday the 24th at 5 pm and have cleared my schedule for the entire weekend. If anybody wants to come early on Friday then I have plenty of room for people to shower & crash, likewise if you want to stay Saturday night.
So who is in? When do you plan on showing up?
Lets do this!
