You can just run a ground wire to the antenna no problem - no need to move the mount. The small black wire in my pic is my ground. I grounded both separately just in case.

I have my antennas mounted directly behind my cab with no issues, but I am running duel 4' antennas. I am sure it would be better farther back, but since I have installed it I have really never used it offroad. Our trails are low and I bent the quick disconnect brackets my first time in the trails.

Does the ground go from the coax to ground or just the antenna to ground? I can't really see in the pic

I was lazy and didn't want to drill another hole, so I just used a big ass connector and grounded it out at the coax connection per the Firestick instructions. You can barely see the top of the blue connector if you follow the ground wire up in the picture. I am picking up transmissions in my backyard from Philadelphia - about 9 miles away - weather permitting. Everyone says not to a duel antenna set up, but I like my package & would do it on another truck. I also got rid of the spring mounts for some quick disconnects so I can park in garages again.

all Ive ever heard is that a duel set up limits the out put to front and back, and that your side to side will suffer some. Of course the reception is top notch.

The Firestick install instructions said a 4' minimum and I'm passed that. When I was doing research I had an actual chart showing the radio wave continuity from each antenna and how if they are just right they mesh together into one huge wave, but I have no idea what happened to it. I talked to the guys at righchannle radio a couple times and he told me I would be fine & due to the lack of any good close grounds I should use a duel set up....? They pointed me to this and I pulled the trigger http://www.rightchannelradios.com/f...stik-fs-cb-antenna-kit-dual-antennas-298.html
