a guy on TTORA posted this pic, looks like that part of the fram is a good place for rust though. This is him installing the 63" chevys and the frame patch he did.

The rear mounts up to the factory location so I guess the won't be any diffrent, the front brackets get relocated up towards the cab about 10". I don't really see them being a problem after I do a ubolt flip and relocate my shock mount locations.

If you don't move the rear mount, it's going to shorten your wheelbase by ~5", and you'll need to modify your drive shaft.

It uses a double shackel set up, so I guess you would have a little hanging out past the frame, but once I get the tube/flat bed combo built with rear bumper I will be good.

That was my thoughts too, that would keep some clearance too. It is a good idea, did you look at the rest of the build up? He has put alot into it in a short amount of time.
I signed up over there and got a pm invite to a meet on the 10th....lol

That would be really cool to do. I might modify the location field so that we can use it for those sort of things, invites and such.

I Don't know why you would even need to weld on a skid??? Just flip the damn thing over and weld the open side to the frame.

Are you talking about the forward spring hanger? If so thats not really a skid plate, it is there to box in the hanger and increase it's strength the frame is too thin to be suitable to box in the hanger. The fact that it acts as a skid is just a bonus.

I'll bet it would be just fine. There are setups that don't even have that thing on there.

Then I started on the driverside front finder were it was smashed in, I pulled out what I could first.

then I started on the rear of the cab (if this was going to be anything but a trail rig I would have used fiberglass here)

I still have a few spots to fix on the door jam onthe driverside but thats it, then I'm going to sand the whole thing down and shoot it primer gray.

You know I will, but I think I'm going to need a bigger bucket of bondo!!!

I'm j/k man, that patch panel should be pretty straight forward. We just need to make sure and do lots of tac welds and keep them spread out so the panel dont warp and do spot welds on the inside, come back with a sanding disc then body filler to level it off, lightly sand back about a foot on the old paint so that I can blend it in with the new (and remember that I put 6 coats on last time) and we should be golden.

LOL I'll have to get a 55 gal drum of Bondo.

I think that just getting the replacement panel will be the hard part. I would like to get the other set of doors done & get a tail gate so that we can pain everything at once.

lol...it might be a pain, but it will be worth it. I have fiberglass matt and resin etc. up here at the shop for those half doors if you want to use it, or are you doing it in metal and bondo?

I need to invest in some paint guns too, so I can shoot the gray primer for mine too. O'rylies has a deal right now on 3 guns for $99 they are prob shit though.
