Yea all I'm thinking is that I really need to Regear soon and get a locker back there. And I don't want to drop $1500 on something I'm just going to have to replace in a yr or two. Mainly don't want to truss/custom link/gear and then find out that it was all for nothing and then have to swap it all out for the 8.4 and then built that axle. I'm just trying to save some cash by not swapping in the tundra rear axle at all.
I'd say 90% of the broken ring and pinions happen on the 8" rear. It just doesn't happen all that often to the 8.4, so why not do it right the first time.
