I bought my 85 4Runner the same way. Guy said it would not start. I hit the starter with a screwdriver and fired it up. His wife was not impressed.

I was thinking of that Toyota you bought that was running rough and you drove it down the street and put the spark plug wires in the correct orientation and it ran just fine

I believe I ended up selling that truck to Drew. The flat bed one, think he ended up calling it the Di-lux or some shit

The T100 was a blown out plug. Took me 10 min and a $2 helicoil....fastest engine rebuild I've ever done
