Fuse box mount under the hood

I am really trying to not overthink this - but I am pretty sure I am. I have the Blue Sea fuse box I want to mount under the hood of my 4R. I want it someplace easy to check, close to the battery, and mostly out of the way of water.

Under the hood -

Thinking I can use the two existing bracket bolts to be the fender mounts for a basic plate to mount the fuse box to. Then I would just need a simple bracket to go to the inner fender well to keep the far end supported. The location looks simple, is between the battery and firewall, and is easy to access from the front and side of the 4R if need be.

Am I missing anything?

I like the idea of mounting the fusebox inside one of those small waterproof boxes. Because I don't like my electronics "mostly waterproof".

Never had a problem with my blue sea in that same spot on my Tacoma.

I've had a Blue Seas in that same spot on my Taco for 8 years or so. No issues. I don't like them mounted over the fuse block because what happens when you need to replace a fuse? :) But just to the side of it is a good spot IMO.

I have mine in a box, just preference and I think it looks nicer.

I would like to note I hade a tree rat climb up and eat the 2 wires that go to the brake reservoir, and some wire I was not using from the PA system/horn about 2 months ago.

Maybe he would have chewed up more if I had more wires exposed.

Yep I agree, I have seen them mounted over a fuse box

For me and my area that gets more rain than Seattle anywhere under the hood needs to be sealed. Way to easy to get water over the hood let alone inside it.

I have 2 spods waiting to be installed one day after the engine swap and thought out what I would do to seal them many moons before I bought them even though they work totally submerged.

One thing about sealing is making sure they can vent when temperature differentials are large and moisture is created. Also - elevation changes can pop a crappy seal if it's not vented. We won't ship insulated glass units over the Rockie mountains for that same reason. About 20% of seals would fail.

This confirms what I was thinking. I will try to get something fabbed up this weekend to get this project rolling.

Meh, you'll be fine. Just slap it in and don't worry about it.

Pretty much the way it was installed. Simple wiring and a simple bracket made out of an old license plate to hold it in place. Now to install some rock lights and a switch panel next.
