When I bought my XD Mod 2 a few weeks ago a guy in front of me was buying a new Springfield M1A1 SOCOM and man it was sexy. And damn it was $$$$. I think his bill out the door was $2100 and change. But he did buy a soft case and some ammo.![]()
Sure, just not as easy to build a short barrel M1A
And I'll be honest. This guy was an old guy and he had some super super hot side piece that reminded me of the hot chic on Modern Family. So I really didn't pay a whole lot of attention to the gun like I should have. LOL.
Well, 7.62 has different properties than 300blk, so it won't be as big of a difference. Planning to go 10.5" and don't intend to use it for anything beyond 300yds.
The increased bullet drop from lower velocity is still negligible on "tactical" targets at that range.
Yeah; the good ones are a couple of those big bills but dang they are sexy.
Very true; but how short would you really want to go with a 7.62? I would think 16" would be the short end of it; anything less and you really lose range/ fps. I saw this first hand the other day when I was shooting my 300 BlkOut over a chronograph. I had the 16" barrel shooting 147gr bullets at 1831 fps and the 10" barrel was shooting at 1563 fps.

300 yds and less the 300blkout and AK are great rounds.
I am going to order a few more reloading/casting tools after I get back from Big Bend. I should be setup to smelt/cast my own bullets, powder coat them, and then load them. Going from making the lead into a bullet all the way to making the bullet fly.
