@tx_shooter Don't get an ATN sight. It's not worth the money and this is coming from someone that owns one. It's extremely frustrating because you can't see enough at night. I imagine it'll be even more frustrating for you since you probably got to use real night vision equipment in the Military.
@thekidcatcher has a "true" night vision scope that's not just a camera and it blows mine out of the water despite being two years older than mine. I would recommend saving your pennies and buying a thermal scope (Pulsar Trail XP50 only). And by pennies, I mean $5k worth of pennies :).

For now if you hunt at night, I'd recommend putting LED flood lights with a solar charger around the feeder, letting the hogs get used to the lights and then hunt them that way. It's WAY cheaper than a night vision scope. Or at the very least, getting a badass high-lumen output green or red spotlight to spot them at night.

I like the lights on the feeder idea. I've even heard some people using green lights so that they aren't aware it is on.

I have a red light that mounts on top of my scope that works pretty well, but even that can be a pain.

I forget what website it's on but I found myself watching 3 guys strategically take out hundreds of hogs with thermal scopes in TX a few weeks ago. They were efficient and had it down to an art. Hitting the hogs far away on the hill so the noise from the impact had the heard running back into close range. These guys were on point. I think they were killing in excess of a hundred a night. When I find it ill throw a link up. So far they had the clearest video and most kills of any crew I have ever watched night hunting.

That's Mr Asshole to you
My friend and I made a green light set up with an ammo can, battery, 3 green LED, motion switch, and a button on the outside to turn it on and off. Ordered most of the stuff for cheap on Amazon, drilled a few holes, wired it up and presto.
Works great and had deer not give 2 shits about it being on the very first time we set it up.

Figured it was those guys lol

The way to justify the high cost of the Pulsar is that when you think about how many times a year you actually get to hunt, your chances of actually seeing game and harvesting an animal go up quite a bit with a Thermal scope. At least that's how you should justify it to yourself and your sammitch maker :p

At the NRA shot show, I played with the Trijicon, Pulsar and Flir thermal scopes. The trijicon's video output and actual screen wasn't great. The unit I looked through had screen burn already. The Flir was alright screen quality wise but I wasn't a fan of the reticle and apparently they have case breakage issues.

The Pulsar was far superior in terms of features, weight and screen clarity. I would only get the Trail XP50 since it's the best out of all of them. There is a noticeable difference in screen quality between the XP38 and XP50. Also, the Pulsar weight is crazy light compared to the other scopes. One of the best features is the picture in picture, basically it has a small box that is zoomed in to the target really close, say 15x, and the main reticle is zoomed out at like 4x. The theory behind this is, you take a precise first shot on a hog with the zoomed in reticle and then instantly switch to the 4x reticle for quicker follow up shots on other hogs that are running away.

Radian Weapons finally came out with a small suppressor friendly charging handle. Been asking them when they'd release one, well as soon as I got the email I bought one for my AR pistol build. This will help out quite a bit when it's in my backpack or going through brush because it won't stab me in the chest or back as bad.
