Latest update from ATF on Form 4 timeline approvals is at 9 months from cashed date. So we went from 6 months to 9 months now.

So maybe I'll get two of my stamps by beginning of June and my other stamp by the end of August if I'm lucky...

Gonna try the 168s and see how they do. I think I may get rid of the gun if they don't shoot well. I really am looking for a 1/2 moa gun.

Previous shooting was off bags in the front and rear. Just picked up an Atlas bipod. If it doesn't go well this next go around I'll probably list it for sale.

Excuse the sock bag, had to send my real bag back, got a hole in it.

What is wrong with a sock bag? I still use one. As for 1/2 moa rifle you are going to have to either tune the rifle and ammo or buy one that is guaranteed at it. That kind of performance is not available off the shelf for any basic rig.

I have a feeling with handload, dropping this gun into a chassis, etc, will never get me there. There are a couple rifles off the shelf that will do 1/2 moa. Maybe not with box ammo tho. I really want one of those bergara rifles

When you are in the field everything has to be multipurpose.

You have a solid starting point; but it is hard to expect great results from a starting-point rifle. There are a handful of chassis setups to pick from that will all tighten it up a bit. Then decide if you want to start working on handloads. Reloading opens up an entire new world of questions - which brass, full length resize or just bump the neck, which primer, how much neck tension, and how much jump to the rifling just to start.

But I would still start with the basics first.

You mean I can't just put some powder in a case hammer a round in it and go?

Begara or Tikka T3x for off the shelf rifles.

Finally got around to putting a can 4" RRS/ARCA rail on my 16" .223 upper and a 8" rail on my RPR. Gives me more Bipod options for different situations.

Think he is looking at Bergara rifles now. Once you start wanting that kind of accuracy off the shelf you have to start picking top shelf setups. I am still betting the Savage could be built to be a shooter; but long term wise buying a top shelf rifle would probably be faster/cheaper in the long run. Tune up the Savage to be a hunting rifle.

This. Most likely gonna go with the bergara. My problem with this Tikka rifles are that the stocks are absolute garbage from the factory. Probably made from recycled Tupperware.

That bergara will be good out of the box for a good while while I get into this. By the time it needs a new barrel I'll probably do that and a chassis all at the same time.

I'll probably just keep the Savage as a hunting rifle. It's fine for that as it sits. Maybe one day if I have a hunch of money I want to light on fire I'll do something with that gun.

Bell and Carlson makes awesome stocks for the Tikka. I have one on my Weatherby (Howa 1500 action) and absolutely love it.

Finally found some 458 SOCOM brass I could afford without a bank loan to buy and reload. Guess I will be finishing out my 458 build pretty soon so I can get a junker car hunting license.
