Holds my XD fairly well. Put a full mag into it (nothing in the chamber) and shook the crap out of it in every direction including upside down and it never fell out so I guess that's good. It fits well and even though I was wearing swim trunks with no belt it would not pull out of my pants when I was drawing it, so if I have jeans with a belt on I'm assuming it will be very stable.

I had no idea Kydex of however you spell it was heat sensitive so now I just need to remember to not leave it cooking in my car when I travel or have it on the gun if I do....I guess.?. No clue - rookie fudd here
Nope, doesn't get hot enough to melt your holster.

Bought a cheap bore scope camera to check on my gas tube alignment. Only 1 upper was slightly out of alignment and you can see the advanced wear from the gas being funneled faster through the gas hole. This 16" barrel only has like ~1k rounds through it. So that's pretty good that I got all the other uppers I own aligned right. :)

At some point they need to innovate/ engineer past the 700 platform. There are a lot of better rifles for the buck than the basic 700 platform.
I'd just be happy at this point if they can make a gun that doesn't rust lol

None of mine have rusted. I suppose I need to take them out of the house to do so. :) I only have 3 of them though, 2 have been shot a number of times. Yes yes.. The 700 is still sitting there collecting cobwebs.

Is it a pre-2011 R700?

I've got a Remington Versamax that is the smoothest semi-auto shotgun I've shot. Got thousands of rounds through it and will never get sell it. But yeah Remington needs to get away from Freedom Group and back to their former glory

@Oswego

I know you like BR stuff. I thought this was interesting. It's the same ammo I have for my 10mm.

I was talking to a PA buddy who never leaves the house w/o his pistol and he said it was just a "legal disclaimer" and that he has never had an issue. Guess that's what happens when rookies actually read the warnings lol

I'm so unhappy with my POS rem .22 semi auto I wouldn't even give it away

wish the gun guys would learn the terminology and he's a very well known popular youtube guy. Ive watched a ton of his videos over the years.

like when you guys prob hear mags and clips mixed up - or rimz and wheelz - same for bullet proof to my ears when I hear it. nothing is bulletproof and he should know what rating the stuff he is shooting at has otherwise the test is for nothing but clicks - no actual data can be taken from it except that penetrating rounds penetrate very well. sure it's cool to "show the power" of the penetrating rounds. maybe just maybe he is being unspecific on purpose, but every good BR MFG has their testing data on their websites as public knowledge so it's not like a crook could figure out what was needed to defeat it. kinda like once my trail cams were set up in their home the pics will never be posted unless I catch a alien or the Jersey Devil in a pic - never show the FOV on your security cameras. I learned that when I was defeating them as a scum bag teen

In the past, I kept mine in the glove box through both Texas and Georgia heat. It holds as tight now as ever. You'll be fine.

I've considered purchasing one of the Remington 700s with a threaded barrel for hunting purposes. Is that a bad idea?

Every gun rusts if not properly cleaned after touching....

Something like this: Remington Model 700 SPS Threaded Barrel .30-06 Springfield Bolt-Action Rifle | Academy

but in googling, it looks like there are many other options...

This looks nice: Savage Arms 110 Tactical Hunter Bolt-Action Rifle : Cabela's
You don't want a Remington right now. I would get a Bergara if you wanted a proper R700 clone.

Or I would get a Tikka.
