If she wants to Elk hunt should have got her a larger caliber. They can be hard to take down..

I should be good on 300WSM ammo for a bit. Found my favorite configuration (Win 150grain Extreme Point) for 32 bucks a box online. Close to a 1000 rounds on hand now.

Ordered 250 rounds of 300BO 220gr subs from one of my favorite vendors. I got the notification email and I couldn't buy it fast enough lol ammo was out of stock 10 mins later.

Also sent my Benchmade pocket knife off to Benchmade to get resharpened and cleaned up per their LifeSharp program (they put a new edge on your knife, replace screws, wear parts & belt clip and then mail it back to you for free). 5 years of daily pocket carry and use with that knife so it was time. Only cost me $3 to ship it to them.

Benchmade does a pretty good job cleaning them as well. Sent mine back 2x until it fell into the water down the marina - and no not kidding. Ive lost (2) Benchmades to that water + about (10) 3/8" ratchets - and all kinds of tools over the 30+ years working down there lol

That's why I EDC cheap Syperderco's now. Less wallet pain when they go swimming

Now that it's sold maybe I can buy a nice knife again

I have a bunch of Benchmades, I should send them off to get cleaned up. My fav was the one at the bottom but the tip got jacked up.

thats what happens when you use "just the tip" as a screwdriver lol

I was always a fan of the osborn 940 series - think I lost a 940 and then a 942 as pictured (not mine). With the reversed tanto tip you can get away with using it as a screwdriver w/o cracking the tip off most times

always liked their axis lock system because I could flip my wrist and the knife would lock back - not something most would care about but in a state where 2A is not allowed it was all I had to protect myself & any assisted knifes are felonies in this POS state

I prefer the tanto tip style as well for the screwdriver aspect (It's there if I absolutely need it in a desperate situation, but otherwise I just go get a tool if I really need a screwdriver).

The blade that is broken is a tanto style. I was debating just removing the small hump in the middle and calling it good. Might have to break out a grinder. :)

I think that blade profile is called a "sheepsfoot"? Only reason I know is I ordered one to try out but sent it back because I didn't like it (too used to the tanto profile). But shoot Benchmade an email and see if they can turn it into a tanto profile blade for you.

But you can bundle all your benchmade's together and mail them off at once. That way you only have to pay for shipping once. But for that many blades, I'd definitely buy shipping insurance for them! That's a lot of money for someone to walk off with in knives.

I wouldn't..... from what Ive been seeing heating them up with abrasive sharpeners can temper the steel so lord knows what a grinder would do to the metallurgy. If you can keep it cool you could grind away all day

If you notice how much I have to remove, its very little. I'm not too worried about heat. I would take it slow anyhow. Might just ask Benchmade what it would cost to fix it the right way.

My buddy at work that is a huge knife collector sent one of his Benchmades in for the free service and they swapped the blade for like $30 or $35 at his request.

Adjusted the scope on the 6.8 to give proper eye relief as well as level out the crosshairs and ordered a couple more boxes of ammo with a Cabelas card I've had since Christmas. I need to get a new stock for it as well. I like the fixed stock I have (not a fan of collapsible) but I need one with an adjustable cheek riser for a better check weld. Guess that's next on the list.

My buddy threaded the barrel on my AR10. At least I can put a brake on it. It’s Loud AF lol. Guess I need to get it sighted in now. The Athlon Scope looks at home on it. At least I’m not worried about fkn it up now that the NF is on my main rifle.

This is going to be her intro rifle. Once we get closer to actually going hunting I will get her a better setup for the task at hand.
Plenty of people use a 6.5cm for elk. Practice and use a quality bullet. When i was in Colorado last month I talked to 2 different locals, 1 was a rancher and they both said 25-06 is their elk rifle of choice. A well placed shot with a smaller caliber is better than a sloppy shot with a magnum.

I'm a 30 cal kinda guy for just about everything, but I do agree a well placed shot is key.

If she is a solid shot with it then it will go. But if I can use it as an excuse to get something a but bigger/midrange then watch me do it. :)

About the only thing I am missing right now is a proper mid range setup.
