Since I have to work the 1st and can't afford to take off without pay, I'll probably meet up with y'all at the fire tower on the 2nd and finish the trip out from there.

Couple different ideas to toss out there. Instead of camping at the fire tower, if we have time we can drive north along Little Mountain Rd (4675) to Billy Creek Campground. Next day drive back up Little Mountain Rd (more offroad travel) to the K Trail and continue east. After running the trail Saturday and doing some exploring if time permits we can drive down to Beaver's Bend SP to camp Saturday night. That will save us an hour of driving home on Sunday. Plus, Beaver's Bend SP is really pretty.

That sounds good to me. Since I haven't made this trip before I will defer to your judgment on route and such... only to openly criticize you and say how I would have done it better if things don't work the way you expect. rofl

Sorry I didn't call last night. Riley was a little difficult to get down last night and then I fell asleep drinking a 15% beer.

OK, I know there was mention of Dutch oven cooking; but should we start designating menus and such? I have started making my list of lists and realized the word "food" was not very descriptive.

I got breakfast for us one morning. Going to bring these sausage roll/biscuit things. I could also do breakfast another morning. Maybe pancakes. I'm not picky so I am open to any kind of food.

Yes food. James and David have dutch ovens, I also have 2. I think it's a good idea for group breakfasts and dinners. Lunch can be individual. We've got 7 people total. I'll update the first post with menu.

Thurs Dinner: white bean and chicken chili (don't think of it as chili, but a taco in a bowl) and cornbread.

I can get breakfast for one of the mornings as well... I'm thinking breakfast tacos. I can do a dinner as well, though I don't have one of those new-fangled dutch oven things all the kids are raving about these days.

Also, I just ordered the replacement bar adjustment pin for my chainsaw (I broke it being a dumbass)... If it comes in and I get it fixed before the trip, I don't figure having one more saw would be a bad thing. It's no Stihl, but it's a Poulan Pro w/ a 20" bar... It worked great for clearing trees after Ike so ought to do ok for clearing trails as well.

An extra saw would be great. We had to get creative with this tree since we only had an axe.

thankfully someone cleared this tree from the other direction.
