Lincoln National Forest trip idea thread

I need to get out in the woods for some camping. Been talking about Lincoln for a while so I thought I would start getting the ball rolling with some ideas and input from others. This is not a trip thread but more of an idea thread. A trip thread will be started if there is enough interest and all that.
Alamagordo is 9 hours from my house so its not a terrible drive. As of now I am thinking a late spring or early summer trip so May-June. Elevation can get over 10K feet so if we go too early there might be snow blocking trails. No idea if that is a reality but something to think about.
One idea is to cut out early afternoon on Thursday around noon and be there around 9-10. Have all day Friday and Saturday to explore and drive home on Sunday.
I am open to dates and ideas so lets gauge interest and all that.

I'm probably out on this one... doing a cruise in June. I used to live in Alamagordo back in the late 80's... man it was a shithole back then. LOL But Cloudcroft and Ruidoso are beautiful, would be great to see it all again.

This will probably be closer to Ruidoso but a shit hole town doesnt really matter to me since I will not be spending my time in the city.

A few people I have talked to with experience there have said you do have to watch for snow blocked trails at the higher elevations. There is a pretty good ski resort industry there because of the snowfall.

I'm watching but I don't think I'll be able to take anything more than a day trip until late this year. So I'm more than likely out.

Baby due in May, so I'm out for that time period.

I could be down for a September trip if the Ozarks don't happen this year.

Not familiar with Brokeoff Mountains but Guadalupe is on my list. More hiking there from what I understand and little to off road trails.
