I reassembled the front end, greased all of the TREs and got the tires back on last night.
Now on to the rear calipers and to finish up some miscellaneous wiring/odds and ends.

I like red and ran out of semi gloss black so that is the way I went. Too bad it is going to get gouged to shit on the trails

Truck is ready to wheel as of this afternoon. I made a few hot laps through the neighborhood.
Rock lights are done.
I need to get my spare DS shortened since the slip yoke on my current one is beat up pretty badly and I don't believe it will hold up for too much longer.

No LS motor, and isn't that 4.0 the same as the ones from the tacoma/fj cruiser
No, the 5th gen 4R has the dual VVT-i motor that makes an extra 35 hp and 20 Ft/lb torque. The motor gets better mpg and has noticeably better throttle response.

Id love a 4.0 that is not the kind of headache I need. Possible 3.4 swap maybe. I have a line on an auto trans right now. I need to find a bell housing for my current motor. I plan on using a RAD designs shifter and trans control module. I want to mate the trans to an Atlas via an AA adapter. Then when the motor swap comes down the line the auto is already in place.

Fuck that.. 5.3 and be done. Can be had for cheap, uber reliable... cheap... more horsepower than a 3.4... sounds meaner than a 3.4... cheap...

I'm not so sure I'd call an ls swap cheap
Down here in Houston, you can get a 5.3 motor for ~$600-$1000 all day. A lot of construction workers swap em in their chebys when they blow the stock motor. There's a guy that does 5.3 swaps all day for $1200 out the door.
