Is love to do an LS. Like Randy said its not exactly cheap. My starting estimate is right at 4K. I'd rather link the front first with a 4WU kit and be a little ahead of the game.

No, the 5th gen 4R has the dual VVT-i motor that makes an extra 35 hp and 20 Ft/lb torque. The motor gets better mpg and has noticeably better throttle response.

After driving Lola the past couple of days, the 4.0 in my Runner seems pretty sluggish from a stop. Sure it runs smoother and has more power in higher RPMs, but it doesn't have the get up and go that the 3.4 does.

I think you are also forgetting about the difference in curb weight. The 4R is between 4,400 to 4,805 lbs while the Taco is around 3155 lbs. I am sure the extra 1245 to 1650 lbs of weight has nothing to do with Lola feeling snappier.

The truck is about 4100 according to our scales at work. Probably 4000 now that I cleaned all the shit out of it and took my tools out. Plus it's stock gears turning heavy ass 285s. The 4Runner has a higher power/torque to weight ratio from the factory and pretty much weighs exactly what it did from the factory other than the tires (which are still stock size). I'm not seeing how it should not be as zippy as the Tacoma.

$4k to link it! Impossible. I was watching Extreme OffRoad and Ian said he had $1k in materials and another $1k in shocks to link his little Datsun on $1k tons! lol. JK. I know it's $$ to link correctly!! Fuck I figure I'd have $1 in joints alone!!

4K for an LS swap. Half of that is the Atlas if I go with the 2 speed version

Ian is a rat bastard. I love him and hate him at the same time. His figures seem way low 3/4 of the time. I wish I had his shop though.

My neighbor had 3 of them in his garage! He might still have one. Probably part with it cheap if he does.

See if he is willing to part with one preferably with a harness.

A LS would be sweet, but not like Sean sweet.

Easy men. This swap will take some time if it happens.

It would be a whole lot easier if that little motor was out of the way. Any new progress pics for this week?

I've been out of town since getting back from K2. It is truly an awesome park to wheel and is definitely hard on your rig. I think once the tire break in they will be awesome. Issues that I found: I need to clearance both front fenders, cut off about 2 inches of slider in the front and rework my winch situation. My tires eat into the sliders and fenders when stuffed and my approach angle is horrible.
On to the pics..
