So are OEM CV's!
New oem CVs is very cheap compared to truck payments or numerous mods, our definition of pricy may be different, my Taco is just a basic budget build, front bumper, sliders, turtle shell, skids, OME lift and that's it.

So should I opt to get $80 Napa's and hope to get another 150K miles out of them?

Well I have RCV's so I can't really talk. But if you were planning to just toss them for some Napa's I was gonna suggest otherwise. If you buy new OEM that is awesome, keep the old ones as spares. Reboot if needed.

I need to pick up a couple spare parts for the trip.. tie rod ends for one. I have a serpentine belt, a unit bearing, cheap CV axle, and upper and lower radiator hoses. If I can get all the crap I planned to get done, done. Then I think I will replace the coil packs and new plugs. She smells like she runs rich but no codes.

I might address all the other issues except the CV's and then further evaluate noises.
Might be your wheel bearings instead of CV's

Keep the OEM CV's as long as possible. Reboot if needed and carry a spare from Napa.

The Napa ones are made by Cardone. If you exercise the lifetime warranty on them, you go through Cardone. Just order one from rockauto for like $35 (last time I looked) and save $75+. The "HD" option supposedly has a thicker boot, but mine didn't last more than 2 years, IIRC.

I rebooted the OEM while I had the Cardone installed. When the Cardone ripped, I sent it back to RockAuto for like $7 in shipping and got a replacement 2 days after dropping mine off at FedEx. I'm currently rocking the rebooted OEM on one side and the untouched OEM on the other side.

I was thinking this as well.

Took care of those.

What did you use?

Assuming you did it correctly, that would point me back to the CV. OEM is hands down the best option for CV replacement, but the Cardone is supposedly the best aftermarket option and has the lifetime warranty. Of course, you could get the RCV (or whatever they are called) and get the HD boots, but I'm not sure those are really any better than OEM.

I have been rocking Oreilly's CVs on my 3rd gen without any issues for a few years now. After breaking a front diff I will gladly keep the cheap fuse at the CV.

So my doe hunt was rescheduled to the weekend before this one. I have to double check I can pull both trips through work and home.

You better check back with the outfitter, and make sure he meant doe harvest, and not hunt.
