I'm just gonna say off the record, CB's suck, a small handheld is great in the woods. When we went to BB a few years back we resorted to handhelds and my truck mounted unit. Worked awesome.

$20 bucks is $20 bucks, I'm starting to see a trend here

Yeah $20 aint shit. its the study part. But its pretty simple shit. Plenty of study material online and books for cheap. Roger is the expert @TacoXpo

I was impressed with the handheld on that trip. That hike that Roger and I took one day was about 4 miles and we could still communicate with the truck crystal clear.

Way better than a CB, plus the CB was not handheld.

It is not a war crime the first time.

Went ahead and ordered the radio; will work on the legalities of it later. It should be here by end of Jan. I might pick up a second radio later.

Only if it says Fisher Price on it.

So we have a date, route, emergency clearing. and are ironing out comm issues. Any other possible issues? Each person will be responsible for their own meals most likely. For the guys that went last time; any particular info on the camping locations?

We need to do whatever we can to camp at this spot near Indian Creek and Dare mine road. There are also spots along the Buffalo river near St Joe if you want to camp near the starting point.

Yeah we definitely need to stay at the spot we stayed the second night. I'm down for leaving first thing in the morning this year rather than after lunch and camping the first night too rather than staying in town.

I would be down for leaving after work on Thursday and getting to the trail head at the Buffalo late. Camp there for the night and hit the trail early on Friday.

I put in for Thursday, Friday, Monday, and Tuesday off so I'm flexible.
I might take off on Thursday but I would rather take off Friday and Monday. I could cut out early on Thursday around 2 or so to beat Dallas traffic.

If anyone else was interested, I even considered leaving Thursday morning and hiking up to Whitaker Point that afternoon then staying somewhere around there and then meeting up with the rest of the people on Friday.

My plan is to leave here early Thursday morning and camp Friday somewhere near the start in St Joe. Its a 9 hour drive for me. If I can get there by 4 PM I'd be happy. I'll look into Whitaker Point.

In looking at the map I see this other place. I think it might be a good place to stop and relax? Thoughts? LOL
