Yeah, doubtful I'll be able to let go of 1300 bucks for tires for this trip and then still get the other gear I want to pick up. Unless of course I can convince my mother that her poor college student needs fresh tires to safely drive home to visit her. I'm even starting to think about not getting that digital ham radio with APRS and just pick up the analog dual band to save $60 that I could put toward an Eno rain fly. Also want to get one of those camp stoves like Blake has. I liked that thing

@BeaverYota You'll definitely want synthetic line for the weight savings. Every pound you can keep off your front end is a plus.Superwinch tiger shark 9500. Steel cable is about $300 on amazon. Synthetic is $475 on prime last I looked. I had that winch on my last truck. No issues. A few others here also have it and no problems.
I have an LSD rear end like you. You'd be surprised what it can get you through. It's not a locker but at least it's better than an open diff. You're just trying to kick me out... Man I need a locker.
It's gotten me through plenty before. Locker is just end goals.I have an LSD rear end like you. You'd be surprised what it can get you through. It's not a locker but at least it's better than an open diff.
Yeah weight reduction is certainly a factor to keep in mind. I have ome shocks with the 887 coils but still feel like I don't have much lift up front. Another 85-95 lbs would probably kill them.@BeaverYota You'll definitely want synthetic line for the weight savings. Every pound you can keep off your front end is a plus.
You and me both. It's gotten me through plenty before. Locker is just end goals.

I had a Eaton TruTrack (LSD) in my 85 4Runner rear.. it acted like a locker about 85% of the time. Its when one tire was bound up and then it would just spin the non-bound tire.
Thought about trying a local tire shop, but I don't have any relationships with any already. Looked at that website and I don't see a rain fly like I like...Guess I'll poke around and see about making one myselfGood gear is nice, but on a budget there is nothing wrong with DIY. Some Tyvek and a few pebbles and a homemade ridge-line with two prusik knots and you have a great breathable tarp system. Even a $10 tarp from Home Depot works great.
Also if you're looking for stuff thats (IMO) better made in the US and less money skip ENO all together. Check out Dutch New - Dutchware Gear - New Products Few months ago I picked up a multi cam hex tarp thats US made/high quality/100% seam sealed on sale for $79.
Work some magic negotiating with a small tire shop. Dealer cost is or was $180 when I got mine years ago (same exact size) and tire prices have only dropped since then. We got (10) and paid $190 per tire. Dude made $100 for 10 min worth of work. I just got a new tire for my moms car for $90 - same tire in 2013 was $170.

Do you have an ARB or E-locker?My OE mechanical LSD was ok in the beginning, but at the end the clutch pack was worn out so it was pretty much did the same as you explain. LSD seems useless to me when only 3 tires are on the ground. Main reason I got the rear locker.
I would have gotten very wet on the trip last year if it wasn't for Aaron letting me share his tent. Not sure what I'm looking for in a fly...just something to keep me dry and the morning dew off.Only one way to make those relationships. Get out and about to some local car/truck shows. I'd be amazed that no one here has a hook up or might be able to point you in a direction at the least. I don't know anyone who wouldn't extend help to a friendly motivated hard working young person trying to get a start on life.
What are you looking for in a fly? Ive got both extremes...Hex for keeping things light and a Superfly for horrible weather. To tell you the truth in a little over 2 years and maybe 20 trips I think Ive actually needed the rainfly maybe twice to protect my hammock.
From what my buddy's say guys are always selling used gear on HammockForums.net and most times it's in great condition so you might want to check that out. Ive never met a bad person from there, but I also never post and only meet friends of friends.

Oh hell... so many jokes... so little time. I'm guessing you were the little spoon. Did he make you dress up and call you "Pretty"?![]()

Of course! Hell bring your side piece.. what happens on TOR trips stays on TOR trips.
I'm bringing the wife at this point, but its 9 months away so who knows what will happen between then and now. But yes, bring your loved, even if it was just last night, ones.
Note: If you bring a stripper we expect lap dances... just saying. Your call.
WTF @MatthewMay1 why you saying that? No one was supposed to know
