October 6-9 Arkansas hunt for the toothbrush inventor

Dallas area folks... IF I was to leave here Wednesday after work what would be a good place to camp up in that area? Don't really want to hotel it with the truck all loaded out.. at the same time if the wife isn't getting home until 6:30 PM it will make for a late night. Flip-side is that if I leave Thursday morning its a 9+ hour drive to Long Pool Rec area, pulling a trailer and navigating I35 traffic is NOT something I am looking forward to... plus I am not setting any land speed records. Just came back from Fort Smith area and at 90MPH in the wifes ride it was a long trip... I am gonna hate it at 65 mph in the truck pulling the trailer. lol I'm thinking of getting a jump on the journey.. might have to just suck it up and leave at 4AM and "hopefully" be on the north side of Dallas before morning commuters plug up the highway. Thoughts?

Oh and don't drive through the big D

Trust me. 35 to 31 to 19. two lanes, not much traffic at all, very scenic the best route to avoid the D

Probably get better MPG due to staying on the highway with that route. I drove 75 a few months ago and the small towns every 20-30 miles really kill the cruise control. Only warning is I-30 in Arkansas is a boring ass drive. Very boring.

I know... did I-30 twice last month! At least its only a couple hours worth of I-30 there. Agree on 75, just did that over the 4th of July week... I will say the truck drivers on 75 have way better road manners than the fucktards on I-30. They actually stay in the right lane and if they pass they pass quickly.. not the mouth breathers that pull over in front of you to pass the other truck doing 67 as they pass going 67.001. Damn near wore out my middle finger!

I'll leave early and/or midweek.
Texas 130, 35, 31, 19, 30 to New Boston.
AR 41, 71, 250, 80 to 27, very nice AR country, mostly through Ouachita NF.

I still plan on doing this trip, employment status is totally unknown based off the Fed budget that needs to be passed by Oct 1st.

I need to replace front calipers and lines, new U joints and mid bearing, battery isolator and additional winch wiring/cable, find bolts to skid plates, wish list snorkel, 2nd AGM battery.

I think the finer details of times, routes, campsites should be its own BR thread.

I don't know if we will have a campsites other than Thursday night. After that I believe its unknown as it will be dependent on how far we travel each day.

That route is fine with me. It is less miles than I-30 and goes through some real pretty country.

Sounds good.. I'd love to be able to leave early Wednesday but its doubtful at this point. I'll run it past the wife and see if we can head out Wednesday around noon and camp somewhere like this http://www.lakeforkranchresort.com/ That would cut down my drive time by close to 4 hours. Leave Thursday morning and meet up with @tex, @tx_shooter and whomever else is rolling out of the Big D.

I'm open to that route that heads north from New Boston. I can meet in sulphur springs where you catch 30
