Moog can eat me with their POS BJ's not being threaded for the zerks! Think I stripped one and will need to tap it out and get a new zerk.

I forgot to add I got no where earlier today trying to get the BJ's in until I froze them for a while. I could of heated up the LCA but that would torched my new paint job.

Freezing is magic

Yes it is, and I have you to thank for that tip. When I tried first thing after work I figured I blew out my POS impact gun. Then I thought about heating the LCA and remembered you talking about freezing them. I popped them in for about 30minutes and boom they went right in the first try. No alignment issues or any issues with them not seating in strait.

Getting closer....I can almost imagine sitting in the drivers seat. If it wasn't dark out and my body & mind weren't craving many beers I would of started throwing parts back on.

All 4 bushings went in 90% by hand but the other 10% required some pressing

Now I just need to get a new zerk for the one I stripped out.

And the most important part so I hopefully won't be doing this BS in another 70k........grease before cam install

024-1.jpg

I was happily surprised how easy they went in especially since I painted the inside of the bushing seats and because of how hard they were to remove. Hopefully between the paint and grease they won't rust up and seize so quickly this time around.

No such luck. Bushings are a PITA to remove, even if you just installed them

Well that sucks. At least my cams won't seize up as quick. The ones I removed are 100% fused. I smacked the crap out of them once I removed them and nothing. It doesn't help that the morons put stickers on them either. I have mine soaking in a spacial mix so hopefully the crap comes right off tom.

One of my local buddys just got a new LCA this week on a 2010 due to one cam seizing so I guess I'm lucky I got 3 years 66k out of them. The stealership had his truck for 2 days because they tried lubing it up overnight to see if it would break free.

Yep. pretty sure the driver's side is seized now..

Gonna try to pull the passenger side apart when I'm done with all the work this storm is bringing. Hopefully I can get one side greased before it seizes up.

Mucho cudos on the detailed posts.. I had forgotten what it was like to read your threads :D

Here's some pics for you. Ill do a write up when I get this bitch back on the road. I would of gotten everything installed tonight, but I forgot to get a new zerk for the passengers side LCA BJ so........I had to stop.

lol

One of my professors was on the east coast, stuck in the storm. He's a storm chaser apparently. Thus, class was canceled yesterday...any chance he was drunk with you? lol

The only thing I was chasing was my next beer.

what kind of LCA`s are these ??? I want to do this update too!! thanks for the help!

They are the original LCA's. I put in new bushings, cams/bolts, a fresh coat of paint and some new ball joints.

So I got everything back together tonight then took it for a 30 minute test drive on some of NJ's worst roads with the radio turned off the whole time . No clunks, clanks, pops, whirring, snapping, wobbling, or any other noises that I had before. It felt like I was driving a hybrid due to the lack of noise. It's amazing how much noise one can get used to with time. Now I just need an alignment in the worst way.
