Sealed transmission... no way to tell its fluid level. :(

There is a peep hole on the pan, there is a TW write up about servicing the trans, I have done it in the past plus there are instructions on which pins to cross on the ob port and the truck computer will tell you when it's at the operating temp

Good to know.. maybe I'll look into it this weekend. Other thoughts are the temp sensor is bad or something. This morning I pulled out of the drive and within 1/2 mile the gauge said it was 210 degrees. No way! So its possible the Auto Meter gauge shit the bed.

That would be my guess. That is very hot for just 1/2 mile. Don't you have a Scanguage to verify what the gauge is showing?

I think the idiot light pops at 220, I was never able to get mine to flash the operating temp to check it

I think it is less than that, took me a couple try's and cool downs before I figured it out

Well... I'm going with bad temp sending unit. Pulled into the garage and forgot to check the temp. Came back out an hour later. Hit the sending unit with the laser and it read 105 degrees. Turned key to accessory and the gauge went to 210 or so. It started at about 195 and just climbed up to 210. So my money is on bad sensor. I'll order one tonight. In the meantime I'm still going to install the trans cooler.

Got new Hella Sharptone horns installed... fuck they are loud!! Also pulled the old trans-cooler. Then I built some brackets out of 1.25x.120 flat stock for the new trans cooler. Got it installed. Did require a small removal of some plastic on the inside bottom of grill to clear the fan. Did NOT get the fan hooked up at this point yet. Also, I need to install the inline temp gauge sensor. I have to go to a friends for a party and didn't want the lines open so I just buttoned it all up and fired up the motor. No leaks. I'll pull the grill again tomorrow and install the temp sensor and wire up the fan. I'm happy.
