I got a ride in January 1993 in Alaska over the Stony Range in an F15D. They called the canyon "Star Wars Canyon" as well. I remember being down super low in the canyon and watching moose run across the ice covered river and then climbing out at a rapid rate due to there no longer being a canyon.. the solid wall of rock we climbed above had heated in the sun more than the snow covered ice and the heat coming off the rock face made the aircraft shake like a mofo. Maybe because we missed the top of it by about 100' it seemed. Cool things about incentive rides back then.. they had a limit on how high you could go.. 18,500 IIRC but no limit on how low. Best 90 minute roller coaster ride I've ever been on.
