When I moved out of the house many moons ago, the agreement between me and my dad, was that he would store and hold onto my baseball cards as long I left my full set of Ping golf club$ for him to use.
Well about 15 years ago my parents moved out of Houston and I was given my cedar chest full of baseball cards, but he failed to bring me my Pings, not a big deal, don’t really care about golf anyways. Well over the years the Nolan card that I requested ended up in my baseball chest. My dad keeps a lot of things over the years and a few years ago back in 2015, he came across an old birthday card that I gave him, and he told me he never remembered receiving the Nolan Ryan card, I didn’t know or remember myself, come to think of it, hell my mother could have placed the card in the cedar chest, who knows.
Anyways my dad turns 70 next month and here I have the birthday card from September 1988 and his Nolan Ryan card that I requested as a kid and was mailed to me October 12, 1988.
So after 31 years, maybe he will enjoy this re-gift of a present, along with some homemade venison jerky and couple fishing shirts. Here is my dad’s birthday card from September 1988 and my self address envelope from Nolan/Astrodome.
