Lowes speciel, it has a nice grip on it, speaking of that I need to sharpen it and my hatchet before we go just incase we need it for chopping firewood. I guess you have your axe too, maybe I will bring my Huskvarna chainsaw too.

Most of the wood at the beach is pretty hard to light. I think Randy used a whole can of gas to get his fire going last time we were there ,.

were talking about Randy here, I've never had any trouble. I always get the dry stuff up in the dunes to burn, and sometimes you get lucky and find some nice logs if there has been a storm.

Sea weed makes great kindling. That is what we used last time to get the fire going. Plus some tiki torch oil helped.

Has anyone else seen the weather down there right now? Lot of rain and wunderground had some flood advisories earlier. Is there a way we can check on the tide and we will be able to drive down the beach?

You can call [EDIT (area code)] 361-949-8175 for a daily update of the weather conditions. It's an automated service. Best thing to do is call down the day of.

Unless there's a hurricane. The beach is easily passable in 4x4 at high tide. The rain packs down the sand.

yeah I was watching the news this morning and they said that Corpus is flooded, but I looked up the weather at PINS and the chance of rain is only 30%. If anything it looks like it will be nice and cool out!
