Ran into a couple issues last weekend on the shakedown run. One was the 7 pin harness was too short. I made it for a tongue that had a 5.5" extension and I ended up using a 18" extension. The one one worked, but damn it got TIGHT when I got in tight turns. So I installed a new one that is longer. Second was the trailer battery was not charging when I connected to the truck, I must have had a derp moment when I connected it up. I ran the power wire into the tongue box but neglected to hook it up. Derp!! Fixed that. Third was that dragging brake and metal on metal noise. Well I picked up some marine trailer bearing grease. Tore it all apart and cleaned everything up. It doesn't look too bad. My plan is to adjust the caster and get the tire straight up and down. I have a buddy who is a mechanic who is going to come over tomorrow and help me look at this brake assembly. I did see that it was catching at the top and not releasing... that may have been the issue. Also did some work on the Taco tonight. Was a productive evening.

I need to figure out a way yo adjust that ladder better.. I'm not a fan of it at this point.. even though its the more "high speed" ladder they sell.

Replaced the 7 Pin harness, now its long enough. Got the trailer battery wired up.. now it charges when its connected to the truck. The brake issue was caused by the parking brake. When you engaged the handle it would pull the pads past their stop point and cause them to stick and drag. So we got them adjusted properly (well one side anyhow). But during all this I wanted to inspect the bearings and while the bearings look good I did manage to fuck up the seal so I need to order a new one. I "had" the package they came in but could not locate them, found the boxes the bearings came in. Anyhow, in a few hours I'll call SB and ask them for some part numbers.

Contacted SB, awesome customer service. Explained what happened.. said all I wanted was the part number. He explained he did not have the part number (since its so new) but would contact the team that did and get me out a new one free of charge. I did have to complete a short email to include my original invoice, a couple photos of the "damage", and the address I want them to send the part to. In the email I also asked them to just give me the part number.

Well the one R&D guy at Smittybilt who knows the part numbers was out sick on Friday. The guy called me and told me though. He said he spoke to the head of R&D and told him my situation. He said they would send me the part number as soon as the guy got back to work and also send me a care package for my troubles. Pretty awesome.. just hope its not stickers. LOL

In the past I had some winch issues. They made me right by taking my 8k winch and giving me a 10k winch. :)

The guy was very nice and said they where very sorry they didn't have the little things (like part numbers available) but they would work on that. Worse case I can still use it and just maybe repack the bearings if there is a lot of water crossings before we head back from the trip. The seal still functions to a certain extent.. just not perfect. Something I don't want to leave if I can help it.

Might take the seal and go to a Grainger or NAPA store around you to see if they can match the seal for you.

Wheel and tire are back on. Ready for a test pull in this weekend. Still need to do a couple things to it, install more 12v outlets in the tongue box and open the tent up and air it out, wash sleeping bags and all that crap.

I do have one of the old military cans I have decided I did not want to use for fuel. This is a pretty cool idea for it.

You could bootleg some dope and bongs in there too!

Gave the trailer an alignment yesterday. Got the box totally level and then tied a 4' level to the tire with the top if it going through the center line of the hub. Used tape measure and ensured each tire's caster was pointed straight ahead. Also did the same with the camber.. straight up and down... or as close as possible. Also put some lock tite on the cam bolts and painted a line on each so I can see if something is moving on me.
