The Drinking Thread

Well my first batch didn't turn out. Only thing I can guess is that my fermenting temp was too warm. Solved that issue with some new equipment. Setup tonight and brewing Sunday. Hopefully this batch will turn out. I'm ready to actually drink something I made.

Wish I was free Sunday. I would come drink your beer and help you brew.

As for right now - I am enjoying a Hopadillo after a long long week.

This ought to work nicely as a fermentation cooler. Picked up a 5 cu ft chest freezer at Lowe's and had a guy at work donate an external thermostat controller to me. Just need to find a permanent home for the setup.

Perfect fermentation chamber! Just remember to setup a blow off tube and to check it for pulling water into the carboy.

Yep its the perfect size for fermenting one batch at a time. The main chamber fits a 6 gal bucket perfectly and there's still a little room left over for other shenanigans (aging beer in my case)

I looked up the blow off tube thing. Is that something that would be contained in the fermentation chamber? Or is the point to run the hose outside of the chamber?

Contained inside - one end where the air lock is and the other in a small container of water/ vodka.

Sadly it seems the big three are buying up all the legit competition as fast as they can cut the checks.

I will probably pick up a few more six packs because they are pre-buy out but it will be bitter sweet drinking them.
