I need a guy to paint the exterior trim on the house, restain the large beam over the back patio and also redo my front door (the clearcoat is turning to shit and needs to be sanded down and redone) I was in Home Depot today and saw this guy who had his work shirt on, on the back it listed all the things he did... mostly paint and redoing wood type stuff. Perfect.. guy was with his family and they seemed very normal. I thought, that guy looks legit.. nice family, kids are well behaved, I'm gonna get that guys info and have him come give me a quote. Well I stopped before I got up to him to grab something thinking I'd catch up to him in a minute.. and within like 30 seconds he was gone as was the family. I looked around the store for 5 minutes and poof.. gone. Damn it!!
when I hire an electrician for my house (and I need one bad) I'm calling this guy. Good to see some pride and craftsmanship on a jobsite
all of this will be encased in drywall and never seen again (if he did his job right)

That sucks, but it was meant to be, is the way I look at those things. I have little trust in most contractors, and not to mention the quality of work most perform is not that great, maybe cause I’m type A when it comes to tackling a project. I will be painting my house probably this fall, along with gazebo and 3 car garage.
I totally agree.. I have ONE contractors name I give out and he and his crew do an awesome job. But they are $$$. And for the little that I want to have done its hardly worth their time. I just don't like to paint, hate it.. and I want a Pro to do the front door as its a big fucking door (42" wide and 96" tall... all wood and glass).. I don't want to have to replace it.
Plasti-derp?

and I can't say I'm happy about it breaking but I did get a good 13-14 years of overloading and treating it like crap under my belt. Ready to go out and hook up a clothesline until I can fix it. Last night I was putting clothes all over my lawn furniture trying to dry it out
Damn I love clean work like that. You can really tell a craftsman by the way he does things that nobody will ever see again. Then there are those "craftsman" who make something look like spaghetti throwup and call it a good job.
That's my house. Bought foreclosed and previous owner was a electrician on crack. Him and his crackhead wife got busted in the middle of a B&E while their kids (all under 4yo) were sleeping in their car outside so they stopped making payments while in jail for the next year . My electric is FUBAR at best.
