That plug being wet seems to have been the issue. Everything has been holding steady for about 5 minutes.

Plug is still tripping after the fan has been running on it for a few hours. I am going to replace the plug so I can rule that out and is an easy fix.

What about the breaker box? Any moisture behind cover?

We had lighting strike near our house once 20 years ago, it blew up all the small appliances, can't remember if the garage door opener was bad also.

@tex when I remodeled my mom's rent house, I ended up having to replace all the crappy builder grade GFI's that the electrician installed in a year or two.
When I remodeled the house I live in now, I made sure to buy the GFI's I wanted and left them for the electrician to put in. I haven't had to replace one yet (knock on wood).

Not saying this is your issue since you have a water intrusion problem but something to keep an eye on.

After looking at it more, I need gutters to help keep water off my porch. Got a quote last year, but it seemed high and never got anymore after that. Guess that now gets moved to the top of the home improvement list.

@tex Yup, I ran into this same issue, cheap ass, builder grade gfci's outlets. I replaced them with some commercial grade hospital rated gfci's, never had issue since. @Anathollo helped me solve the electric gremlins.

Finally quit being lazy and got my new desk moved inside. Cable management under it looks terrible because the power strip I ordered to mount underneath was DOA. So I stole one of the ones from my toolbox in the garage and it wasn’t working either. Bad switches in both. Tried for about 2.3 seconds to fix the switches and threw them in the trash. I’ll order a UPS this week. In the mean time I stole the surge protector from the living room TV. I’d rather lose a $600 TV than $5k in PC stuff. But now I have one side for my WFH setup and one side for my gaming setup. The monitor closest to the camera is my old Samsung 4K I’ve had laying around for a couple months. Just acting as a spare until the one my company ordered me shows up.

With that amount of electronics you’re better off getting the whole house surge protector right at the panel. I put one on mine first thing when I moved in, its def the most cost effective way to do it.

I buy pricy gaming laptops for storage, 10key numeric keys and speed(stock trades). Never played a game on any of them. My youngest son somehow got into gaming, he has his own cpu etc, I dont necessary think its a bad thing, because of all the technology advances etc. But, I do remind him often, the best computer games and screens are often found outdoors, and operating the hand controllers of the Kuboter skidsteer.

Closed on our house in town this morning at the title company. Yippie Skippie.

I also told The Laundry Fairy the other day that @Silverback suggested that the neighbors property that were buying needs a new piece of equipment, lol. She really balked at the idea, but my oldest agreed with Sean as well. lol

Glad I’m old enough that my dad can’t tell me what to do.

I bought that 4080 Super video card and I might play a game once a month.
