Damn Sean, you must be excited since you posted twice. I have 8 big oak trees in my yard so I have nice shade. Only sucks when I have to rake 50 giant contractor bags full of leaves.

Why do you rake the leaves? I just mulch them up with the mower as its natural fertilizer for the grass.

As Zech said my back yard is small and mostly stone walk ways and flower beds. The front yard is decent size but still not much grass. It has some large flower beds and ivy ground cover. If I had more grass I would mulch the leaves with the mower but I have too many leaves and not enough grass. It sucks huge donkey balls to rake but I will take a day of work for a summer worth of shade.

I'd trade raking for shade. I ended up doing only 5 trees today. But two of them we went with a much larger tree than planned, two large monarch oaks (that's what they called them but I don't know the real name.. but they are the classic big ass oak tree) one for each of the corners in the back yard. Also did a magnolia and 2 Texas redbuds. The redbuds are kinda small... but oh well. Hope to do 2 more, I have my eye set on a lace bark elm and some "wandering" something or other.. don't recall the name but it was a neat looking tree.

Got all the grill parts on order and they should be delivered Thursday. Also picked out the granite slab for the area.

Built the little one a work bench. Complete with metal top. :). She likes it.

I see it's right next to the bottle opener. Smart move. This way she can get you a fresh beer while you are working.

Tommy want wingy..
Sprayed 2 gallons of Eraser weed killer on my front driveway and raked up 3 bags of leaves. I can easily say I have raked up at least 45 bags of leaves this year. Our privacy fence in the backyard catches everything. Also finished bundling up whats left of the the Bamboo that is infiltrating my area from the neighbors back yard. I got a gallon of Remedy from my dad about a year ago and have been constantly spraying an chopping it out. What a huge pain in the ass that was. The neighbor asked what I sprayed because it smelled funny. Remedy is mixed with diesel :) It will kill anything with a wooden stalk. You have to apply it pretty carefully.

A friend of mine had a bamboo "wall" about 40' long and 3' deep and 10-15' tall. It was awesome... But he said that below the bamboo was a big ass concrete trough that ran the length of that "wall" to keep it in place. It was cool though.

Mulching all leaves and lawn clippings back into my yard has paid off. We have NEVER watered. The ground keeps enough moisture because of the decomposing mulch affect. Even if it looks mostly dead in the summer, it pops right back up every spring. About to sell our house, and the lawn looks damn good for having been mowed a grand total of 12 times in 7 years, lol.

Just came home and had BBQ Outfitters deliver 7 boxes of outdoor kitchen goodies!! One step closer. Contractor says it will be done by next weekend! Woot! They have been on hold since Monday and waiting for the components to arrive. Negotiating the cost of a flagstone area in front of the bar to allow some bar stools to sit there. Don't want to spend too much because I have a feeling in a few years we'll be extending that area out with concrete to a bigger patio area. I'd lay the flagstone myself but as Rich pointed out, my back is fucked due to easy women. lol

Outdoor kitchen is not done... But it's coming along nice. It "should" be done tomorrow. (Yes I was told they will work on Easter Sunday)..anyhow. Plumber is coming out to hook up sink and plumb the natural
gas lines. They also need to cut out some more brick under the grill. But it's coming along nice. It's super dirty out there. Tons of dust on everything! Flagstone is also going down tomorrow.
