I've been trying to kill off this large leaf cutter colony for about 8 months, they dig up to 8 or 9 feet and bring clay up through the soil horizon, heavy rains yesterday collapsed over thier nest, its at least 3 ft deep and 3ft by 2ft wide hole

Stripped the grass in 1 hour this morning, now poisoned

Got an estimate on concrete removal yesterday. Need to remove a front porch and my front steps. Little higher than I expected, but it's still cheaper than me doing it myself.

Steps cracking up after 53 years and porch ended up settling towards the house so every time it rains it puddles against my block foundation causing it to wick moisture into my basement.

Installed three whirly birds on the rent house. Two in the garage and one over the laundry/mud room. They made a difference in the garage, it doesn't feel like a furnace anymore when you open the door.

Anyone have experience with the insulation inserts for garage doors? I cannot have the extra $$$ to replace the whole door with an insulated one right now so I am looking at the inserts.

Anyone do them before?

You guys do ridge vents down there? Just wondering. When I re-do my roof I am planning on ripping out my fan/thermostat then sealing up my gable vents and going with powerless ridge vents/soffit vents.

I have ridge vent on my house. I noticed a little difference in my man cave when it got put on last year. I think it also looks nicer than whirly birds on the roof.

I cut some foam sheet at my old house to insulate the garage. I forgot what the R value was but it seemed to help some since the door faced the west. I attached it to the door with some liquid nail type of of stuff.

Yeah, any ridge on my house has a full length ridge vent. I had a Tuff Shed built a couple years ago and its got a full length vent as well. Both work awesome. House it 3300 sq ft and I keep it at 68 at night and 72 during the day and my electric bill is about $125 a month during the heat of the summer. They really help.

I've never done them but knew a guy who did and he had good results. His garage faced the west so afternoon sun just turned it into an oven. I think that is the key, depending on the positioning of the garage.

Crap.... I never thought about my shed when I bought it. That's why the darn thing is roasting hot. It's only got 2 small gable vents which are pretty much worthless.
