Score! Wasn't the cheap ass TV that failed in the heat... it was the Dish Network Joey. Might need to invest in a small fan to blow some air over it.

Maybe a window unit and some insulation for the doors would help him out.

Thinking about how big his garage is - he just needs a dedicated 3 ton unit.

@Silverback watch the first part about him installing garage door insulation. We did this to my mom's garage doors and it made a helluva difference. The doors face West so in the afternoon it heats up.

Spent the day Saturday cramped up in a small hole trying to replace a 2" P trap for a shower drain. Also had to replace the shower pan drain as well. Ended up grinding down through a layer of mortar, shower liner (really tough to cut through), the old tile mortar, the old shower liner and then the fiberglass tub. Was a bitch and a half. Spent about 6 hours on the shower drain and an hour on the plumbing.

Not much of a home improvement, but we picked up a Roomba knockoff called a Eufy. Made by Anker, half the price of a Roomba. But damn, thing works great! It got good reviews, and with our house being all wood or tile it does exceptional. The one thing it doesn't do is the "electronic fence" kinda thing that would prevent it from going in a room, but its not a deal breaker. But the very best part about it was the price.. the wife did a free health screen at her work and they gave her some Amazon "cash" and then I did something similar.. anyhow with 3 year warranty and the vac it came out to $54. Pretty good.

I have a similar one by Anker. It's really stupid (runs into everything, gets high centered a lot, launches itself off objects) but it gets the job done.

I read an article about those vacuum. There was talk of them collecting the layout of your house and the company selling to the highest bidder.

What would you do?

House across the street from me had an old man that lived there and didnt keep the property up. Beginning of June the house got listed for sale(for way too much). The story from another neighbor was that the old man had cancer and an investor offered to buy it but the kids were going to try and sell through a realtor for more money.
3- weeks go and the sign gets pulled and so does the listing. The kids had an estate sale and then a few Pods get filled and no one has been at the house in about 3 weeks. No idea if they just walked away from the house or if an investor actually bought it.
The yard sucked before but its really bad now. The 2 pecan trees are heavy with pecans and the limbs are hanging down. The grass is tall and the bushes need some help.
The back yard is mostly concrete from the rear entry driveway and the pool but it has weeds about 4 feet tall that are all along the back fence.

I was talking to a neighbor today and we talked about cleaning up the front yard this weekend and spraying the tall weeds with round up. Then call the city about the pool since it has insect larva swimming in it and is a safety concern since anyone can walk down the driveway and have full access to the pool. We did dump a few buckets and things around the house that were holding water.

Would you go ahead and contact the city or clean up the yard and see if someone does anything with the house in the next few weeks? If the city comes they will just mow the yard since the grass is about 12" right now and not do anything else.

I'd pour 2 or 3 gallons of bleach in the pool.

It was faux news. Roombas CEO and said that was not true and they would never do that. But lucky for me, mine does not connect to WIFI... just in case they are liars. :)

bleach is not a bad idea to kill the bug larva swimming in it.

Bingo.. Or get a super siphon with a longer hose and see how much you can drain?? It will drain a 5 gallon jerry can in about a minute or so... 14000 gallons of water might take some time.. but fuck it. Let it eat.

Did some quick math... 14000 gallons with a super siphon... lets say it drains a 5 gallon tank in 2 minutes... it would take about 93 hours to empty it... so less than 5 days.

While that is some time to drain it is still better than letting it sit and do nothing. Get two super siphons and drain it in half the time. I do like the gallon of bleach to kill anything growing in the water. That is a good idea that is worth the couple of bucks in bleach.

Yeah, and if it takes more time the better.. no sense flooding the yard or worse, neighbors yard. I might invest in a $6 kiddie pool from walmart, add a spigot fitting to the bottom and attach a garden house and have it feed to the street or something. Maybe a sewer cleanout on the property if you can find one.
