Hiring movers this time?
New house will get a new one. That man cave will get me top dollar at this house. And a crane to relocate the man cave?
Gonna have to bring that man cave with you.Not to that decision yet. First step is fix some things and get it ready to list.
Exactly what I'm doing right now. Everyone keeps telling me to build my own house or modify a house after the fact (i.e. build a new garage or an extension). I just reply "I do construction ALL day at work, all week long. You think I want to come home to that?".If I could do it again, I would hold out for the house with exactly what I wanted in terms of garage. Building the detached garage was more expensive than I think it should have been, and that was with us doing our research and going with the lowest cost (but still good quality) option that we could find.
+1 for getting the garage you want.![]()

Yep, I agree. Doing extra renovations means I have no time for my wife, friends, family or to go hunting or wheeling.and that's the mistake I made. First couple years of working after work were "cool", but now when I look back I wish I had just bought what I wanted instead of a total fixer upper.
, one of my Army floor mats from the recruiting office is still in the pictures I don't think anyone said it would not pay off... just nobody wanted to do it anymore. Were you living in the house when you did all the renovations? Our condo was small (1100 sq ft) and my "garage" was a 42" x 72" closet outside on the patio. I had tablesaw, mitersaw, tile saw, plus all the normal tools you would need to do hardwood flooring and tile. Plus paint and new fixtures. Didn't tackle anything plumbing aside from new toilets, left the sinks and countertops (but had we stayed they would have been replaced). We sold it with it not even really being for sale. Realtor talked us into selling it... she had a couple lined up and everything. They asked me how much we wanted for it.. I gave a number and it was done! Insane.
