Murder them!

You are in the trimming group I see.

We had a couple crape myrtles at our last house and I would cut them down to a couple sticks 12” long and every year they would grow. 12’ or so. Not nearly as pretty as the ones @Taco Loco has though.

One of the women I work with loses her mind every year when the landscapers cut the crape myrtles at their office. I have thought about getting some for a natural barrier along the back of my property but never messed with it much.

Out with the old grill and in with a new one. The old grill has been a good grill for the last 7 years but lately it became a severe liability by catching fire. I looked into refurbishing the old parts it it just was not worth it. So we downsized to a smaller grill (since it is just 2 of us 90% of the time) and took advantage of a sale at Home Depot. It was pretty easy to assemble and seems to be worth the $90 it cost. If I get a few years out of it I will be happy. My sammich maker is not real happy about downsizing but she does understand the reason.

We looked at the Weber grills and liked them but could not justify the price tag for their 2 burner grills. Part of our reasoning to down size from a 5 burner to a 2 burner is to quit wasting so much propane getting such a large surface area hot to only use 1/3 of it.

I didn't plant them.... they are very resilient plants, anyways. I had to cut mine back last year because of a fungus from leaf cutter ants, I had to remove all leaves to before I sprayed them down in the Fall, and I will keep some of mine maintained because of where they are planted. I'm actually in the edUkat3d group, I have a horticulture degree...

Yeah I always buy the stainless 4 burner $200 ones on the big sales and they last 3 maybe 4yrs until they get recycled.

If we get 2-3 years from this one I will be okay with replacing it. I am a little annoyed that Home Depot did not have a floor model of this grill because they had sold all of them. I found this one mixed in with some others by accident. The grill one size up they had a floor model of and is a nicer grill. If I had been able to compare the two I would have went with the other grill; but for now I will take what I have.

Speaking on grills, you can always find and buy these parts. I just upgraded some new parts to an outdoor burner for the Troop.
I may go back to Home Depot and get a few more of those gas line kits, on clearance for $5.63ea normally a $25 kit. McCoys has the yellow shut-off ball valves for $4.99 vs HD $9~
plus Veteran discount, 10% at HD and 5% McCoys.

Only upgraded 2 burners assemblies, we never use more than 2 burners at a time.

Those banjo burners are great. I use one on my brew stand for boiling 12-15 gallons and it does a good job very efficiently.

Do you (the troop) want some 25lb propane tanks? I have about 4 or 5 and I really only need two.

My buddy just retired his 15+ year old Jenn Aire stainless grill. He bought it at Menards back in 2002. Thing had a lifetime warranty. He had replaced everything 2 or 3 times (gas valves, burners, grates, even the stainless tub). He retired it because he just wanted a new one. He has so many Hilton Honors points he scored a new Weber Genesis 4 burner grill for free.

Got home after the cruise, my yard guy texted me and asked if I needed my yard mowed.. I said yes. He said he can't do it today. LOL... then why did he ask?

I'm ok with that.. I am still in "cruise mode".. drinking beer in the pool. Which BTW, I do not get in the pool on the ship. They are nice but no thanks.

Made a work bench last week. I didn't take into account for the slope of the foundation when I built it. Finally made the adjustments to make it level last night.

Also, my wife made this bookshelf for our son's room. I was impressed with how good it turned out. She saw a picture on Pinterest and made it happen!

Looks like a pretty sturdy work bench. I need to build a new bench for my reloading area and have thought about something along those lines.

I was surprised that a 2" x 12" x 8' was only $13. I bought 3 of them. 2 for the top and the 3rd for the back. I figured that would give me a back edge so that tools and things wouldn't roll off the back and give me the ability to make it much more sturdy.

I had to get my wife to help me lift it onto the supports. She asked "why'd you have to make it so heavy" while we were moving it. I just laughed and told her that was just the weight of the wood.

Used pressure treated 4x4s for the legs in case they get wet. Also, I couldn't find non-treated 4x4s in Home Depot. All in all, I'm pleased with the bench.

Up next will either be hanging cabinets above it or floor-to-ceiling cabinets beside it.

I have some 2x2 steel tube I am going to use for some of the bracing and legs. I just need to get off my ass and get it done. I seem to find a thousand reasons to do other things lately.
