Bees are gone. Now off to the store for some materials to repair the hole.

See, the dude is not even wearing a bee suit, they were not aggressive, if there is a next time, fire up the smoker for a day or two and the bees will move on.

edit: I see a lot honey comb, so those bees have been there since earlier part of this year, it’s still possible that they will relocate the hive if constant smoke.

You will need to fill in gaps like these as well.
Anywhere the siding meets the brick, seal it.

I’m plan on getting the real flowhives, not China knockoffs, damn they are expensive but for a small Avery operation or self consumption, they are the Cadillac boxes to have.

Worked a few hours this evening in the Victory Garden, some plants have been in the ground for a little over 2 weeks, picked my first $900 tomato this evening lol. As the garden grows more, the cost per tomato goes down lol.

Going to take a lot of tomatoes.

yeah there are some fixed costs that will carry over for years. Like most foods we buy, and eat, especially tomatoes, millions of tons are imported from Mexico, we don’t know what chemicals, fertilizer, herbicides are used, even if you buy organic. I have been to USDA certified organic farms, and I’ve seen pallets of calcium and fertilizer which would actually violate the organic certifications, you would be amazed how growers are able to skate around the guidelines of running certified USDA organic farming.

I think I have about 9 tomato plants, I’m still working on the garden, the tomato plants are not all grape tomatoes, maybe 4 grape plants, but if I were to add about 7 to 9 more grape/cherry tomatoes getting 65lbs in one season is very doable if I wanted to plant that much.

~ 65lbs of grape tomato’s = 592 pints = $900

My ol’e man said he planted 26 tomato plants today, damn that’s a lot, but they donate a lot to food pantry/church and friends.

Few days prepping then caulking should help the house allot. Got some water intrusion issues I can see starting and it's starting to crack up the mortar it seems.

Good news is you only need a few things to fix it...... caulk + gun, time, steel brush, alcohol, and some open cell backer rod.

I'm a big fan of Sika Urethane's. If you prep it right even in full sun down there you'll get 10+ years out of a good joint.

I can get sausages, guns, tips, etc. at wholesale so before you buy if you buy - hit me up and Ill try to help where possible. Stuff gets expensive quick.

This spring I need to power wash where my curbs meet the asphalt road. Tired of the weeds growing there. Going to PW it, let it dry, fill it with backer rod, then caulk it sealed with some polyurethane.

the ahole FNL that I have is actually a bee keeper, he has experimented with various boxes to include the China knockoffs, he swears by the flowhive FTW. I didn’t buy any this year because the Australian fires and prices went up, going to wait till August or so and buy 2 complete hives.

I haven't needed to buy any in a while ~ We bought out the stock from a shop that closed their doors.

For your application I'd use closed cell for sure. You don't want any water wicking if it ponds on horizontal surfaces.

Called my shop manager to see what brand he had bought in the past but he didn't answer. Give me a few minutes and Ill dig into it.

I have seen some just use various mortar, not sure that is a good idea.
