Worked until 11PM deep cleaning my garage last night. Moved my work tables around to try a different setup which will hopefully make me more efficient.

The retaining wall between my neighbor and I is starting today. All of the ivy will be gone. Then I get to put up a new fence this weekend, make sure the sprinklers have the right heads along the wall, and then prep to put down new sod.

What are they replacing it with? I recall some discussion about it but not the final decision.

dang - thats higher than I thought. Bushes did a good job hiding the elevation change

Replacing with natural stone. The guy is calling it Millsap stone.
We looked at using Pavestone blocks but does not look as nice and was only about $800 cheaper.

good call on that IMHO. Pavers are basic looking & millsap looks completely custom/baller status that matches your house good.

Had an electrician come put in 4 LED dim-able can lights in living room, plus another point-able one at the fireplace. Pictures turned out like shit, lights are in the 2700 range, so not that bright white. Also had him put in 2 outlets in the eves on back porch for some strands of Edison bulbs. Stone masons come next weekend to replace all the plastic edging around everything in the front yard with stone. Then I'll need to fill them with mulch.

Got some pics... this is when them set at the dimmest.. (I think).

I'll probably angle this one more down, its kinda hitting up high IMO.

Are they backfilling it with concrete? Seems its gonna break with some good rain over several days.. or a good cold snap for a week. Needs some anchors deep into the dirt behind it. Hell my little tree rings that were two stones high broke due to heat/cold and expansion at the old place. Assembled the same way.

I was hoping to see rebar in the footer. I'm no mason but I'm weary when I do not see a strong foundation. That said they could have used rebar and we just can't see it.

if they don't put in a weeping system for water drainage behind the wall - kick them off your property IMHO and get some one else in

Watch out for those taillight warranties man! As a subcontractor for most of my adult life - Ive seen more than enough corners cut and friends screwed over.

All that said - if you guys are having home remodel stuff done by subs and need specifications or drawings - hit me up. IMO there is nothing more "binding"
then blueprints. A lawyer can dismantle contracts and their verbiage, so IMHO shop drawings/blue prints are the golden standard. It's either built to speck/the drawings or it is wrong.

+ you don't even need to speak the same language when you have shops - most good construction guys can build per drawings w/o having to even know how to read the language on them if the drawings are thorough enough.

and if you have a big project - I have a drafter that's SUPER cheap (if you pay cash lol) I use for work if it's not something I can cobble together in a few hrs for free. Known him for a 20 years and I give him all the work I can't handle myself. Guys super smart and been in construction his entire life.
