wishful thinking for sure. They are probably just getting caught up from the work associated with the freeze.

And the crack head, aka the plumbers helper will scope out the place, to come back later to help you get rid of a few things.

got quotes to add a 3rd garage bay ($48k) and cover our porch ($18k).

I'm on the fence about the garage, but almost 20k to cover a porch seems absurd to me.

Have a plumber coming tomorrow to look at the shower drain in the master bathroom. Think my p-trap is bad. Hopefully they don't bend me over too far.
Just realize that copper has gone up at least 40% and PVC fittings are insane right now. I paid $2/piece for a 3/4" PVC sch.40 coupler. Fucking nuts.

All construction materials right now are insanely priced. It was $40 for a 4'x8'x1/4" sheet of plywood and $8 for a 2'x4' at my local homeless despot. I've been telling friends and family that right now you only need to do construction if it's absolutely necessary. If you don't need it, then wait for material prices to come down in a year or so.

Do you think that they will? I was talking to a buddy who works for a home builder who was saying that there is a lot of talk in the industry that this is "just the new price of lumber."

If people would stop building homes and let the demand die down, then pricing would come down. But as long as people keep paying these lumber prices, then they are going to stay high. It's the same with ammo.

That's one of a hundred reasons why I've only hired 4 subs in 16 years at my house. I'm a big fan of privacy. Also being a cheapskate helps lol

And we have to import the skilled labor from other nations to do the work because we are too lazy to do blue collar work so....... supply and demand. Got no labor and no materials = subs wet dream $$$$$$$$

Not a plumbing issue. Looks like we're going to have to tear the shower out and redo it all. Never really been a fan of this shower anyway so not a lot of hurt feelings. Just sucks to have to spend the money since we're paying for wedding stuff. Oh well, life sucks and then you die.

How much is that shower redo gonna cost ya? Neighbors redid a bath in their house maybe 4 years ago.. nothing fancy. Just an all-in-one tub/shower deal.. it was like $10k.

No clue. Gonna get a few quotes. Just have to rip the tile out, replace the shower pan and drain, and re-tile. Might add a couple built in shelves or something if it's not too much more but we're not getting too fancy with it. Shouldn't have to re-plumb or anything crazy like that.

Do as much tear out as you can before requiring an inspection. Save some coin for that wedding. But yeah, they didn't redo any plumbing. Might have raised the shower head.

what’s causing the drainage issue, connecting from shower pan to the drain line?

All I gotta say is......schlueter waterproof membrane and pans are the standard for trouble free bathrooms.

If you ain't got it you will need it eventually.

Yup or those pre molded nicer fiberglass pans, no foor tile to clean, easy install then tile up the walls.

That's what I did. Screw wet bed pans.

My first job as an adult was installing shower doors. Then I got a job at the mfg and worked my way up to head of fab shop. Then 15+ years selling them. Seen all the issues over the years.

And skip the goofy tiled cut outs/shelves and seats in the showers. Unless they are done properly and everything's sloped right they up the potential for failure.

My guess is within 5 years my buddy's shower I put glass in last year will be falling apart.

Everyone cares about superficial looks. No one cares about good bones under them. I tried to tell him but happy wife happy life = bathroom remodels every decade or two

Oh and if I did it again I'd skip tile. It sucks. I'd do a single slab per side like hotels use. Install is super simple and by decreasing all the joints its 100× cleaner and less likely to ever leak. KISS

Or if on a budget just use fiberglass sides

Took out my horseshoe pits today and seeded the area's. I just cut the posts off. They are set into 5 gallon buckets filled with concrete so... cut that corner lol

Also used the spot to bury (3) 80# bags of concrete that got wet and set on me. Anyone ever digs there and they will find a few hundred pounds of concrete lol

Also since my pos neihbor moved out and the new ones not moved in yet I used it to my advantage to cut up a tree they have been letting grow between our fences. It's not on my property but I don't care. Filled up three trash cans then called it quits and put my fence back up
