Further I dig more pissed I get. Who the F hangs siding with no tar paper behind it??? The morons who sided this house.

Someone took the time to demo all the asbestos below 4' but then didnt even put up anything but siding/foam insulation.

To 'make it work' with existing conditions & code it needs 3 steps + a 50" deep landing.

Here's what I submitted and the head guy marked up. I still need to call him so I can figure out how the bottom step is going to be supported since he deleted those piers.

Who knows but my handrail also needs to be secured so I'll most likely stick to my initial plans.

Also seems funny to:

* leave my piers 6" above the frost line
*expand to tubeless/rebar free 10" holes with no bottom pad

I followed latest IBC codes and based off local university ground temps then determined the depth and size. who knows what my town is working off of.

No you can still put it in, it's just up to @Oswego if he wants to spend the money to put that pier in.

@Oswego it's the bottom step, you could just put it on some CMU flat block and call it a day. This isn't your forever house so it won't be your problem in a few years...

I was thinking of pouring a rat slab but that makes sense.

Only issues going to be a looser handrail and the fact I know I'm half assing it. So far I can be pretty proud of my work.

Sence of accomplishment and pride is 90% of my motivation at this point

My buddy had a new (bought it at the end of 2019) Samsung fridge and his ice maker sucked as well. So much so that he ended up buying a stand-alone ice maker,

All the appliances in the kitchen are GE Cafe series. No issues and 8 years old.

Fuck me running.. fridge took a shit tonight. A replacement is $3600 or so and it's not the same. Quickest to come look at is on Monday. We have taken everything out and either trashed or put in another fridge. Just fucking junk. Mom had a fridge in the garage that was older than I am. Replaced it because she got tired of kicking the brick the was keeping the door closed. I'm just glad it took a shit while we are here and not next week while I am not.

Every other fridge that was under $3600 is out of stock or on backorder! Did see an LG that I could get in about a month.

Do not get an LG. Junk fridges. My mom's LG fridges compressor went out after 3 years. Try to find a fridge that's not made by GE (or a company under their umbrella).

If you have to wait for a good fridge, then go buy a cheap standard fridge for cheap off fakebook marketplace and just wait it out.

Or go buy a super fancy Sub-Zero fridge

you jinxed yourself! You know what they say GE stands for, "good enough". $3600 holy crap, you could just buy a tool shed, insulate it, and put an industrial condenser in there and have a walk in fridge for probably less than the cost of the GE unit. My neighbor did that for his deer, rented out a spot to others so they had a place to keep the deer before butchering.

It's probably something stupid like a control card or molex plug that went bad. I'm sure the compressor itself is fine and has a good charge. These new fridges are too complicated, like anything else they take what works and add crap to it that nobody needs. Who needs a TV or be able to see inside your fridge from your phone when you're not home? Lazy stupid motherfuckers, that's who

I noticed a lot of ice had built up at the lip of the ice maker. I wonder if something was spraying water and it leaked into the door. I was hoping it would dry out and turn back on this morning. No luck.

Yeah perhaps there is a defrost circuit to keep that from happening that went bad, then the water caused a control module to short out.
