Yeah the shop is just a bonus at this point. I'd honestly take an oversized two car garage. The only problem I have with the current house setup is the two car garage is barely a two car garage. I have to park outside because my side of the garage is taken up by work bench, toolbox, lawn equipment, etc. If I had a garage that was big enough for my crap and both vehicles to park in and a shed for the lawn equipment, I'd be as happy as can be. I do still have access to my dad's shop anytime I need it. He's to the point where he no longer uses it and it's mostly just storage 364 days a year. Not like I do anything more than maintain my vehicles and fix my niece's broken toys anyway.

nothing worse than being crammed trying to get out of your car in the garage! I dealt with that growing up at my parents and swore I wouldn’t do it to myself when I moved out. A nice bump out in the garage or larger 2 car sounds like it’ll suit you perfectly. Unfortunately most homes are designed with a garage just big enough for the cars, they don’t think about having a work space. I think we need more men reviewing the blue prints on new construction before they are submitted lol

That's prob the best idea.

I'll never understand why people pay more for less. Wolf is one of the least dependable brands you could ever buy.

I've always used consumer reports for all my appliance purchases and havent been let down. Well my dryer and washer are screwed up but that took over a decade of me overloading them and they still work....just gotta kick the dryer from time to time and the washer shakes the whole house lol
That's the first I've heard of Wolf being unreliable. It's owned by Sub-Zero...

Sadly most men don't do home projects anymore. Most they can do now is click a mouse or remote control button.

Hell my BIL has a Mechanical engineering degree from one of the most prestigious engineering colleges in the nation and he can't turn a screwdriver to save his life and he no interest in doing so either.

I have a slightly over-sized two car garage and it sucks. Not enough space still...

You can have almost 1400 sq ft garage and still not have enough room.

Yesterday I layed out my new beams (I was an 1/8" off which I corrected so I'm happy with that), marked all my floor joists and then cut them down (a ton of dusty work). I got an ~11' and ~13' LVL up.

Finished installing the last of my LVL's and made them into beams today with the help of my nephew. Finally finished with most of the downstairs structural work. I'm going to start on building the truss for the beam upstairs, moving walls and building walls for the 2nd floor.

Nice and open now!

I noticed a lot of ice had built up at the lip of the ice maker. I wonder if something was spraying water and it leaked into the door. I was hoping it would dry out and turn back on this morning. No luck.

Well, $559 later it will be fixed. Control board was dead. Power went in and nothing came out. He will be back on Thursday to fix it.

Ouch. All things considered, that is better than buying a new fridge and a much faster fix than many people are getting right now.

Oh yeah, I am happy to pay that. I asked the guy about the GE Cafe and if they go out a lot. He said "no, this was the first one he has worked on in a long time.. been a few years". So that was reassuring.

In soviet texas, heater grounds you.

In all honesty, doesn't look that bad to me, seems they ran a 3 wire from the heater to the receptacle and only a 2 wire from the panel to the receptacle and used the 3rd wire in as equipment ground unless I'm missing something here.

Consumer Reports reports all the "high end" brands being very unreliable from initial quality to longevity. Wolf is one of the worst rated gas ranges you can buy per them. Samsung the best.
