Roughed in some new boxes for flood lights off the back porch. Got too damn hot to tie in the switch inside today, might try and tackle that tomorrow, but I'll at least get the light fixture up there.

Fixtures are up, working for the next 10 days or so, not sure when I’ll get a chance to run the switched wires to the junction box up in the attic. Four 250 watt equivalent LED should light up the back yard area pretty good. On sale at home cheapot as well.

I don't do residential anymore (other than my own house), so I don't know that much about new framing designs with lumber. But looking up the floor joists number off the labeling on it, 16" PWI 47 (highlighted in green), I found the specs online. Based off the load it's supporting and how far the joist spans determines the On Center (o.c.) spacing. Per the chart from the manufacturers website below, it can be spanned at 12"o.c., 16"o.c., 19.2"o.c., or 24"o.c. (highlighted in blue).
So just looking at the 2"x4" stud wall that's spaced at 16"o.c. and comparing it to the floor joist width above, it looks like those floor joists are 19.2"o.c. but I could definitely be wrong on that OR the floor joists span can change in other parts of the house based off load calculations and the first floor wall layout.
Would be curious what sheetrock they are using though. The sheetrock specs are tighter than 24" studs.
Probably 1/2" since it's residential. They don't give a fuck if the sheetrock fails after 5 years from improper spacing.
Yep, I'm not a fan of those floor joists but the tongue & groove floor sheathing will also add strength to floor joists as well. Will these homes last a 100 years? I doubt it but then again, we don't build homes to last here in America.

Anyone have experience with mini-split systems? Considering installing one in my garage. Not for full time use. Just something I can turn on the night before a project to knock the edge off. Preferably one that cools and heats but heating isn’t a necessity since I have other heaters. It’s about 500sq ft is all. Just looking for brand recommendations, etc.
My f-in-law has one in his garage and it works really well. I am trying to decide if I want to put one into my master bedroom to help cut down costs on the house AC. There is no point in cooling the entire house when I just need one room cooled off.

I hear Mitsubishi is supposed to be one of the better brands. I have no direct experience but just word of mouth from a few buddies that have them.
I have been told thay by a few people I have talked to. The overall setups are pretty cheap compared to traditional central heat and air.

Just a follow up on this purchase. I’ve used it pretty much everyday since I bought it and I absolutely love it. Haven’t found anything I need it to do that it’s not capable of doing and it’s nice only needing the one tool and being able to swap out the check to do whatever I need it to do. I can keep the drill bit in the drill chuck and a driver in the hex chuck and just swap the whole thing out as needed rather than carry two tools/batteries with me to do the same job. The only gripe I have with it is it has little push buttons on the top to switch the direction. Wish it had the normal push switch by the trigger. There’s no quick way to rally switch the direction on this thing without taking your hand off the grip.

Finally got around to putting handles and knobs on kitchen and bathroom cabinets and drawers etc, The Laundry Fairy is much happier.
These dumbasses when they installed the cabinets, they didn't use a corner spacer between cabinets, so one drawer can't have a handle or you can't open the drawer.

I don’t know how close you could get to a match with the other pulls but could you do one of the hanging (best word I can think of) pulls on those two corner drawers? If it was low profile enough to fit in that recess, the other drawer wouldn’t hit it when it pulls out.
