Well I had some success last night. Finally saw a doe that looked older than 1 year. This place is crawling with young deer and they look so tiny. As I type this, I’m in the blind with 8 deer around. 3 “meh” bucks and 5 of those small does I mentioned. I guess the old does grow old for a reason....not coming to the feeder when I’m here. Haha
Entry- I thought I made a not so great shot but due to the angle she was standing, I ended up hitting lungs and nicked her heart. She ran about 20 yards and collapsed. Bow hunting is cool because the other deer don’t run off when you shoot. They stood there looking at her like “get up you weirdo.”
Exit- Much better looking shot placement. Wish I could say I planned it this way because I’m just that good of a hunter, but even I get lucky sometimes.
In other news, my hunting rig sounds like the rear end is getting ready to blow up. I need to come down with some tools next time and I’ll change the oil in the diff....or put oil in it. Who knows if there’s even any in there. I did appreciate the sub-50° temps this morning because the engine didn’t try to overheat and I didn’t need to have the heater going. It really is a bucket of bolts but it keeps on trucking 40 miles each way between properties!
At least I had a nice sunset last night for my “socially distanced” Halloween.
